Best Pain killers

Hi,
I’ve got severe osteoarthritis in both hips and the pain is becoming unbearable.
The doctor has prescribed 30/500g Cocodamol.
I have been taking the maximum dose for a week now and the pain isn’t any better, should I be asking for a different medication do you think?

If possible, ask to have some Naproxen alongside the cocodamol.
This combination works well for me.

I've got osteoarthritis in my knee and have been given MST to take twice a day with dihydrocodeine with paracetamol to supplement as and when needed. I'm not finding either to be great pain relief so am going to make an appointment soon to see about getting it changed,
Interested to see what others are being prescribed for chronic pain,

My dd has JIA and various joints in other hip. She uses Voltarol gel ultra when it's especially bad as it's straight on the area.
She also takes Naproxen and paracetamol. On very bad days she uses a hot water bottle, either a traditional one or her electric one. When out and about heat packs you buy for hiking really help.

Best thing l had was have hydrocortisone injections done under dye X Ray.
I'm just about to see my orthopaedic specialist today .. for x rays and to see if l need hip replacement or more I injections.
Only pain meds l can take is paracetamol.

My GP is totally anto opiates and wont prescribe ghem. He thinks we are all going to become drug addicts.
I insisted on cocodamol but had to go to A&E one weekend with s wait of 10 hours I was in so much pain and they gave me tramadol whi h worked but my doctor wont renew the prescription and gave me naproxen which hzs destroyed my stomach and gabapentin for nerve pain. Nothing works. Im waiting for a orthopaedic review.
