Tension headaches

I’m not sure where to post this (this is my first post) I’m sorry if it’s in the wrong place.

I have been experiencing constant pressure, tension type headache for about 2 weeks straight.
I have health anxiety and I am on sertraline (Zoloft). I have been taking it for about 4 months. No side effects. I read that this could be a side effect to it, but after 4 months? I’m not so sure!

Because of my health anxiety, I have convinced myself I have a brain tumour. I experience dizziness and have done for 7 months.

The headache is mainly on the left side and top of my head and a constant dull ache.

Ive been waking up during the night because of these. It also hurts more when I clench my jaw (if I’m eating etc).

Is this a normal tension headache and will it go or should I go to doctors?
Im not prone to headaches, I rarely get them.

Im very concerned. TIA

There are many, many different types of headaches, so it is unlikely to be a brain tumor, but you need to get it checked and you need to do something about it, otherwise your brain "gets used to it" (for lack of a better word). It is more likely to be something like New Daily Chronic/Persistent Headache than a brain tumor, so I would not worry too much, but go see your GP. I hope it gets better.

Just wondered how you are now OP? I am getting almost daily headaches on waking for periods of a month or so then it settles for a while before coming back.

Hi!! I went to the doctors and they looked behind my eyes, took bloods etc and there was nothing majorly wrong! They just told me it was a tension headache and prescribed me naproxen. It took away the pressure in my head and I took it for about two weeks and I was back to feeling normal!
I did also find out my body doesn’t create enough red blood cells too so I was also taking folate tablets!
I would suggest going to the doctor if you are worried, but it is very unlikely you have a tumour. I think they’re a lot rarer than we think:)

I had this exact thing for a few weeks when I’d started taking sertraline - a couple of months in when it felt too late to be a side effect! It went away after a couple of weeks and hasn’t returned, so I’m fairly certain it was down to that. Lovely when you’re on the medication for health anxiety in the first place though!

Thank you for replying. I'm glad you are feeling better :-) I will speak to my gp and try not to worry so much. I also have health anxiety so it's easier said than done!
