Really bad pains in my top part of my stomach, it's been pretty bad for a whole now was throwing up quite a bit last night, Evan when it's calmed down a little bit, as soon as I touch the top part of my belly it hurts I'm just wondering if anyone has had anything similar I just hate going hospital unless last resort

I think pains if you’ve been vomiting is normal tbh and even being tender when touching the area. It can be due to stomach acid or even down to how hard your muscles have worked each time you vomit.

Vomiting often causes abdominal pain as stomach acids travel backward through the digestive tract, irritating tissues along the way. The physical act of vomiting also may cause abdominal muscles to become sore.

Gallbladder? Gallstones?

Does it feel any better if you lean forward or curl up in the foetal position? I'd be thinking gallbladder pain from what you describe.

Gall Bladder pain starts on the left. Unbearable pain worse than labour pains.

It’s different with everyone . Mine was smack bang in the middle. Unbearable alright . But different degrees at different times .

My appendix pain started around my belly button.

Stomach pain can be caused by so many things though. If you're worried then it is sensible to have it checked. Perhaps 111 can give you some advice.

Maybe a trip to gp rather than straight to hospital

Mine was on the right, just below/under my ribs.

You need to go to A&E if it's that bad. I ended up in the surgical assessment unit, and the other beds who also had severe abdominal pain were:

  1. Bowel obstruction
  2. Kidney issue (something about a shunt being needed)
  3. Unsure, person didn't speak much English.

But three or four different issues in four people, all needing treatment, and all potentially very serious.

(And as usual every conversation can be heard in these little rooms even if you would prefer not to hear it)

Upper epigastric pain can be caused by many things eg stomach ulcer, gastritis or pancreatitis. If it's very bad then a trip to A&E is called for. If not then the GP

Your gall bladder is located right hand side. Just right of centre. Under your ribs.

chattyness · 03/04/2024 01:09

Could be pancreatitis it's very painful there especially after vomiting, see a doctor

Um I have gallstones for nearly two years and I still also have my gallbladder, and have frequent pain. It does not start on the left. Your gallbladder is on the right and sits underneath your ribs. My gallbladder pain started in the middle across the top of my stomach and was like a sharp band around my stomach and into my right hand side. I thought I was having a heart attack. I'm lucky I don't get frequent attacks anymore. In the middle of a flare now but it's the first one I've had for over a year. No one can diagnose you OP. The only thing you can do, if it is severe enough than go to A and E. If it can wait until morning than ring your GP.
