Painful bowel movement

Sorry tmi - Since having my toddler nearly 2 years ago I have suffered with painful diarrhea. The drs are completely useless and told me they don't know what's wrong with me. I'm bleeding etc, they found polyps which has now been removed no piles etc inside.

Has anyone had the same issue?

Have you had your b12 checked ?

Regular upset tum can be linked to low b12

It could be a symptom of a lot of different things. Can you ask to see a different Dr?

Sometimes what looks like diarrhoea can actually be overflow diarrhoea from constipation. Bleeding, pain and diarrhoea can also be red flags for fistulas - pain and bleeding could also be something as simple as a fissure.
If you can at all I'd try and see a different GP and keep a detailed diary of what's happening with your bowel motions/how often are you bleeding/when does the pain start etc.

Hi both,

Bloods came back fine although they need to do repeat bloods as they think i might have underactive thyroid.

It's just getting unbearable now and the pain increases, also tmi the diarrhea is getting worse and multiple times in one day and my stomach is already sore. I have asked for endo to be investigated as I know it can go on rhe bowel.

Have they done a gastroscopy / looked into your stomach ?

Firsttimmummy · 08/04/2024 10:34

The doctors will honestly not look into anything!! They even asked me what i think it is? Like I am meant to know.

It's so so hard when the GP isn't interested!
If the pain is unbearable and you can't cope please consider calling 111 or going to A and E. I don't want to panic you and you know your body and what's normal and what isn't for you and what your pain tolerance is like. But please don't rule out getting urgent help if you need it.

If it doesn't feel at that point then keep st the GP. Don't worry about being pushy you know your body! If you haven't already ask directly to be reffered to gastro and explain the pain is stopping you from doing all your normal tasks. It's honestly no skin of their nose to put a referral in! Have a look at NHS choices first and check the wait times for local services. At the point of referral you can choose where to go but that info isn't usually given by GPs. It might be there's a shorter wait time at a different hospital to the main one your gp refers to which might be better for you.

You shouldn't be left in pain without investigation its cruel. I don't know the situation where you are but where I live the out of hours appts are at a different GP practice to my usual one. Maybe see if that's the case where you are. A different GP at a different practice might have a different attitude.

I'm really sorry OP it's a terrible situation ♥️

When was last colonoscopy / polyps ??

Firsttimmummy · 08/04/2024 14:00

I went to a and e once and they told me they couldn't help and go home. They seem to think it's normal but it clearly isn't!!! My qualify of life have gone.

Last year was when they found three polyps and removed them - it was clear thankfully.

So after removing 3 polyps - when do they want to check ur colon again

worldwidetravel2017 · 08/04/2024 14:13

You know your body - perhaps push4 abdomen ct scan

Firsttimmummy · 08/04/2024 17:18

Next scan for polyps is four years. They seem completely obsessed with putting me on birth control even tho im clearly trying to get pregnant. Might need to change drs...

I think changing GP might not be a bad option OP. If you do find yourself in unbearable pain and it's not something you can cope with please do go back to A and E or call 111. You don't know what the cause is atm or whether it's something that needs urgent intervention or not. So all you can do atm is listen to your body and your pain signals. It's a rotten situation and very unfair! X
