Medication overuse headaches

I'm on 30mg of amitriptyline for chronic daily headaches which worked at first (started on 10mg and have gradually gone up to 30) but no longer is. I'm having to take 2/3 doses of paracetamol/ibuprofen during the day to keep them at bay.

I'm now concerned that they are just rebound headaches caused by the painkillers.

Has anyone got any experience of going cold turkey on pain meds? (I'll keep taking the amitriptyline and hope that they start working again as a preventer). I'm worried about the long term effect of para/ibuprofen.

I went cold turkey. Put up with the awful headaches. It lasted a gre few days then I was fine. I am not taking any pain relief now. Just ice pack on headache points if i do get one. Seems to help! But rarely get one now

I went cold turkey and just put up with the pain too, it didn’t last forever. Kept off painkillers totally for at least 3 months. Now I don’t take painkillers every day but when I do take them they’re more effective.
