Medication for fibromyalgia

Is anyone on antidepressants that help with fibro pain?
I was on fluoxetine for years before I was diagnosed and it caused a lot of stomach issues so I don't want to go near that again.
I've already tried other medication like amitriptyline/nortriptyline but they both gave me heart palpitations and I was told to stop them. I've had a few other similar medication but they didn't do anything.

Doctor has referred me to pain management but not sure how long the waiting list is.
I've had so many blood tests taken and other tests and they've all came back clear.

Just getting fed up and was wondering if anyone had any advice re medication that helps them.

Thanks!

Gabapentin.
I only take a small dose during the day or I’d be zonked. I take the full amount the prescribed around half hour before bed. Without it I am rolling from one side of the bed to the other all night in pain.

Duloxetine is prescribed in US for fibro, not specifically here but I've found it helps me hugely.

Wolfiefan · 16/02/2024 22:25

I also take gabapentin.

Pregabalin.

Thank you for your replies. I've tried gabapentin too but it made my skin itchy all over so had to come off it 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'll look into the others. Thanks!

@GingerLiberalFeminist Does the Duloxetine help with the tendinopathy in various joints at all or does it just work on the muscles?

I'm not entirely sure on how it works, only that I have more energy and more capacity to move and exercise without pain since taking it. Both tendon and muscle improvement for me.

That sounds fantastic!

Another one with Gabapentin here. 300 3 times a day

I’ve taken a lot over the years:
duoxetine - gave me brain zaps like electric shocks in my head it’s awful weaning yourself off them too
nortryptaline - made my eyes swell up
gabapentin and pregabalin - both made me drowsy and I put on weight quickly with both
amitriptyline - again made me too drowsy

I’m now getting by with dihydrocodeine and just started sertraline it’s not great

Started on Amytriptaline 23 years ago, then switched to Pregablin 7 years ago. Two years ago was also put on Baclofen alongside, as many of my muscles now have severe spasms, which can put me totally out of action for 2-3 weeks at a time.
