Hi could anyone offer advice or been through something similar. To cut a long story short for 11 years i have suffered with kidney infections but the last few months I have been getting random pains coming and going in my left kidney. I woke up this morning and couldn’t breathe with a sharp pain in left kidney I went to the doctors and he dipped my urine which showed blood and white blood cells in my urine so sent me straight to the hospital to have bloods. Also my blood pressure was high 140/89. I had bloods done at hospital and they were normal and iv been sent away saying it must be muscular pain. I know this isn’t muscular pain it’s coming from my kidney really don’t know what to do now as this has been going on and off for months. Anyone had anything similar

You should push your GP to do more tests as it's an ongoing issue. I don't get it often but every time I do get kidney pain it's mostly due to UTI and have to have antibiotics.

Just to add when my lower back hurts my kidneys start to hurt too, when I don't drink fluids much they hurt too...just thinking could yours possibly be kidney stones.

I've had kidney pain since I had a stent put in to ease the removal of kidney stones 10 years ago. But, according to my urologist, its impossible to feel pain in the kidneys because they don't have any pain receptors in them. 🤔
I didn't see any point in going back to see him so just put up with it now

Take something for the pain and drink more. It sounds like kidney stones/renal colic.

This is what I was thinking possibly kidney stones. But the hospital just sent me home in pain telling me it’s muscular. We know our bodies and I definitely have had my fair share of kidney problems in the past to know what I’m feeling is not muscular pain

I have been taking cocodamol but as soon as they wear off I’m back to square one in pain.

When I had kidney stones the only thing that helped the pain was naproxen , codeine was useless.

It felt like the worst pain imaginable tbh and came in contractions almost. A really gnawing horrible pain.

Did you have nitrates in your urine? Have they sent it to the lab to be cultured? Did you get any antibiotics?

If it’s a kidney stone you are often sent home with tamulosin and pain killers. Paracetamol can be very effective for me. What you need to do is drink lots of water to flush the stone through. How much are you drinking?
