(Sorry bit of a long one)

bit of a rant and looking for some help really I have endometriosis, and my legs are so sore and keep turning blue I also have calf pain, had a video call with 999 who looked at my legs and immediately sent me to hospital in a taxi, I got to a&e and was seen by triage I was asked how I got there and I explained 999 sent me she said “lying isn’t going to make the wait time quicker” I said no they did send me she went “so you got yourself a taxi here” I explained about the pain in my legs she went well they look fine no redness or swelling I said but they are turning blue when I’m standing and are painful she said “but they are fine when you are lying down” she told me ”like the previous times you have being here you will be waiting a long time as there are other people with real emergencies” continued to ask questions about my kids??? I said they are fine she said I clearly can’t cope with them and that’s why I’m at the hospital everyday and that I need to contact social services or my health visitor, she then told me I need to get myself up the road as it isn’t fair on my partner or kids and asked what he has to say about me always going to the hospital said he wants me to get better she then said “well there’s nothing wrong with you”, im now back home in agony and don’t know where to turn for help I am now scared to do so as she is saying all this is because I can’t look after my kids. Where can I go? what can I do? Im so upset.

It's hard to say from the details in your post, how often do you go up the hospital?

CingsKross · 22/09/2023 20:16

I remember being in your situation and being labelled as a hypochondriac. I genuinely started to believe it was all in my head!
I eventually managed to save up and go private for an ultrasound and mri. It turns out it wasn't in my head and, I wasn't the drug addict they accused me of being. I did indeed have severe endo that had spread to my bowel too.
Is going private an option for you?
I really have how women are treated in the misogynistic NHS.

Are you waiting for a specialist gynae appointment? What investigations/treatment have you had so far? How often are you going to A&E? It sounds very bizarre for a health professional to say those things- but I don't know the full details. Was this the triage nurse, Dr who saw you or someone else?

BungleandGeorge · 22/09/2023 20:27

999 is the emergency services? Do you mean you spoke to GP or 111 on video call? I’m not sure that repeatedly going to a&e for the same illness is going to help much, I’m not sure what they can do?

Isn't it possible that the OP spoke to 999 who said, "yes it's an emergency, you need to go to hospital but we won't be able to get an ambulance to you for 7 hours, could you get a taxi?" Why assume the OP has incorrectly said 999?

Can you get to a different hospital? We have a local one that treated me horribly and I won’t ever go back there if conscious and able to go to the one further up the road.

You could also try your GP again or if you have an endometriosis consultant, ask to see them?

Once you have been properly seen, then I would contact PALS with a complaint about that nurse.

Have you had an ultrasound to check your ovaries? That might be a good place to start.
