I have an ongoing chronic pain condition of currently unknown cause.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, FND, migraine and I had endometriosis surgery two years ago. The pain and fatigue persist and have absolutely crippled me this year. I have been off work wince July with a severely bad flare up of symptoms. I have been unable to function in any meaningful way. I am awaiting an appointment with rheumatology query autoimmune conditions such as lupus due to other symptoms in addition to the widespread pain and debilitating fatigue.
Unrelated to the above, I have come down with my third occurrence of Ramsey Hunt Syndrome. The first two times I was given antivirals only and it has left me with residual numbness due to the palsy on my left temple. This time I have also been prescribed 60 mg prednisolone for 10 days to prevent any further palsy damage.
From the second day I started the steroids my widespread pain is all but gone! I haven't napped since then either, feeling naturally tired and going to bed as normal. I feel like a new person!
My course finishes in Wednesday and I am now utterly terrified of going back to how I was. I've had four days of normality, something I had forgotten how to feel.
Could this be coincidence? Or does this point to me in fact having a condition which actually requires steroid use? I am acutely aware of the side effects associated with steroids and would not want to take them unnecessarily.
I'm not sure if or how to approach my GP regarding this.
Any advice would be most welcome!
