Colonoscopy prep..

Hey! Hope this is the right place.

i’m having a colonoscopy next week due to a positive FIT test of 10. Anyone else had a FIT positive and NOT been diagnosed with cancer?

I just need some advice
for the prep. When do I start prepping? With the diet? Also two days before I have a wedding. I can cut fibre no issue but am I allowed to have some alcohol? The wedding is Saturday and my colonoscopy is monday.

any advice would be appreciated! Thanks :)

I found the prep much worse than the procedure itself. They weren't testing for cancer...I had longstanding issues with loose stools that they were investigating. Definitely don't leave the house after the prep!

As for my results, there was a couple of polyps that were removed. During the barage of tests I had, it was discovered I had a fibroid the size of a 7 month pregnancy. Funnily enough I had no issues with my periods until the diagnosis, when they became heavy and painful. I had a hysterectomy as the fibroid was too large to treat in any other way. My symptoms of loose stools eased up considerably after. Both gynae and gastrointestinal doctors didn't think there was a link, though I still wonder if there was, maybe the fibroid was pushing onto another organ or a muscle or nerve or something? I dunno!

Just to be clear, the colonoscopy did not pick up the fibroid. That was an MRI (or something, it was a few years back and I had loads of tests!)

Thanks for the replies and advice guys.

had my first prep about an hour ago and I feel soooooo bloated and sick. Absolutely dreading the next one.
feel a bit crampy but no movement just yet. Really want to fast forward to this time tomorrow so it’s all one of the way.

Hey everyone,

colonoscopy was all clear
today! Completely over the moon.

the prep was the worst by far!
only at times the colonoscopy hurt. But sedation definitely helped!

Yes - strange feeling isn't it
I could feel every movement the camera was making

Hope you recovered quickly after the sedation.

The turning of the corners were particularly painful. But the staff were amazing and said we can stop at any time to breaks ect. They really did amazing with easing my nerves.

Felt very sick after sedation and the worst headache.

feel okay now, tummy is making all sorts of noises but I’m just glad it’s all okay!
