Chronic illness, work & being a parent

I'm a disabled mum (have multiple chronic pain and fatigue conditions) and I work full time. I'm the manager of a small retail store. Doing 40 hours a week and being a parent to a toddler is really taking its toll on me plus leaves me with little family time. Is there any laws that say a disabled person can work less hours as management? I've asked my boss if I can at least do alternative weeks of 4 and 5 days (so one week do 4 days, the next 5 etc) but they have said they can't due to my contract saying I have to do 40 hours. I love my job but this routine is tough!

Anyone can request flexible working and if you are disabled you have more legal rights to this request.

It doesn't mean that it will be approved but there has to be a significant reason for why your work cannot comply.

Thank you. It's honestly really tough on me, I have no energy to do fun things with my DD.

I not disabled but a parent to a toddler and work PT and that is enough for me. It’s a-lot to work FT and raise children never mind doing that with a disability.

A reduction in hours is also considered a reasonable adjustment if disabled.
