I have a condition called tuberous sclerosis which makes non cancerous tumours grow throughout my body. The worse ones are on my kidneys, where I have several on both, the biggest being 15cm. As you can imagine it means that my other organs are getting squished. It's a little like being pregnant. I get a lot of intense pain from them, especially if I do any form of exercise or over stretching myself. Even doing housework can cause pain. The pain mainly comes from the tumours dragging my kidney tissue.
I have a highish impact job, which I'm trying to deal with, not entirely sure I'm going to be able to do it long term. I can manage working through the majority of the pain, but as soon as I stop, or sit down, the pain starts. It hits worse when I get in from work.
I have a pain which has come and gone over the years, but lately it seems to be there the majority of the time now, and before I see my GP I'd just like some opinions, or support if anyone has experienced similar.
The pain is on my left hand side, just under my ribs, which goes around to the back, but mainly it's on my side. I've had my gall bladder removed, so not that. Taking codeine sometimes works, but not all the time. I can't take ibuprofen.
Could it be kidney pain? A few years ago I'd asked my GP and he was very dismissive, just said it was probably muscular due to me being overweight. Even at my thinnest (healthy BMI) I got this pain. I went to physio and it didn't work ease the pain.
I am just so fed up with it all, fed up with pain taking up the time outside of work, tired of worrying what I'm doing is going to cause pain, tired of being tired because the pain is keeping me awake.
