Worse pain you've had

So dp suffers from cluster headaches. He suffers from attacks maybe once a year that last for 2 weeks. He describes the pain the most painful thing known to man/woman.

Anyone else suffer from cluster headaches do you agree and also what helps you?

Also what would you say is the most painful thing you have been through?

ExDH has cluster headaches and says the same thing. Apparently his doctor mentioned that most people who have them do.

Me? Breastfeeding. A 36 hour non-progressing back to back labour was as nothing in comparison.

Tough call between back to back labour on just gas and air, and occipital neuralgia!

I have trigeminal neuralgia, it's the most excruciating pain I have ever known.

It's nicknamed the suicide disease, due to how bad the pain can be. It's unpredictable, but if a bugger really.

Tooth abscess is really painful & I think worse than labour as is goes on longer & there's nothing to show for it at the end. I recently had infected tooth extraction & that was awful. I think with labour you must release some endorphins or something which makes you forget the pain.

My periods. They’re the only pain I’ve ever had (and hopefully ever will, touch wood) that make me pass out. Labour was bad, but I stayed conscious and I knew it was a limited thing, I’m stuck with periods for a major chuck of my life, or the side effects of controlling them. And nobody expects a woman in labour to be feeling particularly chipper, but there’s often an undertone of ‘aren’t you being a bit of a wuss about this?’ when you talk about bad periods.

Second place would go to migraines.

Unfortunately I have MS and my “problem areas” are facial/eye/head pain (TN/occipital/cluster) which brings me to my knees.

although the tummy tuck was close… the world’s biggest paper-cut! 🫣

Yes he said this. He's on a cluster headache suffers group. Apparently some of the people on there have said at times they have thought about taking their own lives due to the amount of pain they are in from them!

The pain of contractions.

Never felt anything like it and I hope to never feel anything like that again.

Apart from nerve pain / my neuropathy, I would have to agree.

TW: When I first developed cluster headaches we had to hide sharp objects because the pain is so severe that logical thinking would go out the window.

Inflamed gallbladder and a bursting ovarian cyst.

Gallstones without a shadow of a doubt!

I've had three -

Knee dislocations - bloody agony

Wide excision after mole removal (malignant melanoma- became infected and I couldn't bear weight. It was on my shin and I felt like my skin was trying to fall off.

Gallstones - by far the worst pain ever. Wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy!

Other than childbirth, gallstones. Agonising.

Back pain. Don't know the medical name but my physiotherapist said that the bottom section of my spine was twisted away from the rest causing the muscles around it to spasm. Luckily it was short lived but I spent the best part of two weeks flat on my back on the floor, terrified to move. Painkillers had zero effect.

Also just had two back to back episodes of strep. Face and neck so swollen I could barely open my mouth, could eat or speak or sleep through the constant pain. Would happily do labour rather then that again. I cried in boots because there was an admin error with my prescription to treat it but that hurt too. I fainted twice because of not eating. Had to brace myself to swallow, was spitting out rather then swallowing.

Completely understood people getting dependent on painkillers when I used up the recommended dose of everything by mid afternoon. Was considering overdosing on Cocodamol and dealing with possible addiction, ironically it was the paracetamol overdose that stopped me. I had a tens machine on my face at one point in pure desperation. I have no idea how people live with this kind of pain constantly or even intermittently.

When my Gallbladder flares up it's excruciating and then my neck issues caused by spinal stenosis

Separating my sacroiliac joints. I wanted to die.

My discs rupturing was by far the worst. On top of that I have sacroilitis. Haven't had a pain free day in 15+ years and I'm 28. Labour was a doddle, though it did hurt my back

Frozen shoulder and sciatica. At the same time. And drugs that I'd been given for one not being enough for that condition, never mind both together. Very dark days indeed.

Aerobic vaginitis, it is an agonising burn pain in your vagina and vulva which makes walking excruciating. Unfortunately not recognised by doctors so there is no end in sight. Makes people bedbound is it so debilitating.

I had this too. It was worse than childbirth. I ended up having a shot of diazepam in my bum and chugging gas and air - pretty similar to childbirth. It only took the edge off it.

@Luckydog7 did it ever happen again to you? Mine was several years ago but I do worry it will happen again every time by back twinges!

I suffer from cluster headaches and I would agree it is agonising. Though an infection in my tooth would come a close second.

I had a bout of sciatica that left my cry on the floor in front of my kids once. I've never know pain like it. Every tiny movement exacerbated it. I also have trigerminal neuralgia and it's beyond horrific. It's like being electrocuted in the face.
