Bubbles1995 · 22/07/2022 20:43

Hi!

So I'm in for my colonoscopy tomorrow at 8am. Only managed 80% of my first litre and just about to start my second just keep gagging.

I don't know what to do. I know I need to finish it but when I say the struggle is real. It really is real. TMI but the first drink has kicked in a half an hour again after starting at 5:30 but I don't think I can manage another litre

How are you doing, @Bubbles1995?
I'm still a bit tender and ended up taking more buscopan this morning, but I'm happy to report the air is finally shifting (just as well there's no-one else here)!
I'm still very bloated, though.

Bubbles1995 · 24/07/2022 20:36

@vipersnest1 I have been up and about but regretting my choice. Been having some cramps on my left side. Assuming where the biopsies were taken from (they mentioned my left side) I feel very bloated and backed up currently so hopefully I can get some more air out! I'm glad you're feeling a bit better we're in this together!

@Bubbles1995, I didn't have any biopsies but still have 'left flank pain' here and there - at times it feels very 'pinchy'.
I don't know, but I'm wondering if the whole thing kind of brings your gut to a standstill as it's a bit shocked, and it takes a bit of time for it to get back to normal. It would make sense, wouldn't it?

@Bubbles1995, how are you doing?
I just wanted to give you some info on what is happening to me in case it is happening to you too.
My gut is still very unsettled and making gurgling noises, and I still feel really bloated.
I've only realised today that lots of the bacteria in the gut will have been flushed out due to the bowel prep.
I'm going to get some probiotic yoghurts tomorrow in the hope it will help. Maybe that will be useful to you too.

I'm so glad I came across this post last week. Currently on my second round of prep for tomorrow morning. Having it cold, with juice and with a straw, plus chasing It with water has really helped. I have managed to keep it down this time and so feel confident tomorrow will happen.
However, my butt feels like it's on fire, any advice?

Vaseline on your bum
It will pass.
well done you, keep going , worth it

MrsMigginsCat · 29/07/2022 08:24

Vaseline, Vaseline and more Vaseline for your bum. I underestimated how sore it would be but Vaseline did the trick.

OP, I had a biopsy at my last one because of inflammation and redness. They told me it was probably as a result of the prep. All was fine, although I did have a bit of pain/tenderness for a few days after, I guess because of the biopsy. It was ok after a few days though.
