Travelling for microdiscectomy

Hi I need a lumbar microdiscectomy I've been offered the operation next month but I live at the bottom of Cornwall and need to travel to Exeter for the op which is a good two hours away. Surgeon says with regular stops will be okay but I'm really nervous about it, both in terms of doing damage and it being really painful. Has anyone had similar and travelled a distance very shortly after surgery - they are suggesting going home the day after. Thanks in advance x

My sister did this. Was collected in a car. Basically lay down the whole way home. Regular breaks. It wasn’t easy but she managed.
