Chronic pain
Kidney infection

I'm writing this post in help that somebody has gone through what I am going through, I am in agony with a kidney infection.
I have had recurrent uti's for the good part of two years, however it has now developed into a kidney infection. I was diagnosed a month ago now and I still have it with awful pain.
The doctors have tried me on co-amoxiclav, which didn't work, and I am now finishing a course of full penicillin which also hasn't worked. The doctors have sent a wee culture off to the lab which they say should show the exact bacteria and how to treat it.
I went to a and e in the week as the pain was unbareable - they just have me more antibiotics and some cocodamol to manage the pain (which now doesn't even touch the sides)
I am really worried about the pain. Has anybody gone through this, and is there a particular antibiotic that works best? It's made me feel so poorly
Thanks in advance!

@Akire
Not really any better unfortunately. My culture came back with the exact bacteria and which antibiotic to treat it (trimethoprim) however I finished them today, and although they have made me feel slightly better, I still have awful pain and have to depend on cocodamol. They only gave me a 5 day dose, could be i need a longer course. I am back at the docs tomorrow morning!
