Right back atcha @Akire and yes, my washer is on now too. New Years day for me means I need to have some kind of clean / tidy up for a fresh start!
Akire · 01/01/2022 18:23

I didn’t have high ambitious today so did a wash and been catching up on soaps. Having another bottle of Buck’s Fizz and thrown some sausage rolls in the oven!

Morning all.

My dbro has covid symptoms. He's awaiting a test so he can find out for sure but he sounded rough on the phone.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 02/01/2022 08:18

Oh no @HerRoyalHappiness really hope it's not covid. My sister is really poorly too, my mum lives Nextdoor to her and said she has never seen her so I'll (any my mum saw her is Resus when she was 8 so that's saying something) her PCR is due to arrive today but I'm fuming at her cos she spent NYE with my parents and mum has asthma.

Another quiet day here, mooching about still eating Christmas cheese and enjoying the time off work!

Had a stressful trip to the sofa shop yesterday. DH insisted I sit on every single one so my legs are absolute murder this morning from getting in and out of the wheelchair so many bloody times!! Picked one in the end after almost divorcing.

Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday! (Is it Sunday? I think it is? God I've lost track!)

Akire · 02/01/2022 09:17

Sorry hear more Covid about, so much for omicorn being milder! Fingers crossed for everyone.

Sofas are nightmare to buy for years they have been so narrow and low at the back I’ve been putting off getting a new one. My one is old and broken as I rushed buying it and fell apart in about a year!

OP posts:
HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 11:51

My sofas are really comfy, and one has been raised to make it easier for me to sit on. Only problem is the kids have broke the springs in it so it dips on one side!

But I hate sofa shopping.

Akire · 02/01/2022 11:53

Managed do some more washing and more putting away. Still not finished but slow and steady. Thinking maybe we could get some tips on housekeeping/cooking/laundry to help mange things in small steps. be great hear other peoples way of doing things.

I honestly never realised how stressful it would be!

When I first moved out of home I was gifted two old sofas by family. Then there was a fire and the whole house was badly damaged (long story).

Moved back home, met now DH and he had already signed for the mortgage for this house and furnished it. That was 14 years ago and the sofas have lasted all that time! Although they really are royally fucked now.

The new ones are a lot higher as well which will help me to stand to use the frame, it's getting more and more difficult the more this bloody sofa sags!

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 12:13

I definitely prefer a high sofa.

@Akire my housekeeping tip is get someone else to do it Grin my mum cleans my house 3 times a week, in between I just do washing each day (kids put it in the machine and transfer it to the dryer for me) and pots really.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 02/01/2022 12:24

I am waiting for my PIP to be approved to hopefully get a cleaner in a couple of times a week. It would be a stretch to afford it at the moment. Hopefully we are on the final leg of waiting now!!

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 12:44

Fingers crossed @SpookyScarySkeletons

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 03/01/2022 01:00

everything crossed you get it approved @SpookyScarySkeletons it makes such a difference getting it. im due my renewal this year which im dreading, i dread all appointments even the one si have every single week, the anxiety is crippling for me

Akire · 03/01/2022 10:24

Saturday hospital appointment is looming ahead. I get just same anxiety and sleepless nights about. Have to try book taxi hour and half Before hand that’s wheelchair accessible. So if and when they “can’t find one” I have take manual wheelchair which I can hardly push but will get cab asap. Could really do without stress. I chose a local hospital I could walk to but this one is 4miles away and I can’t do buses. Well in theory I could but had so many bad experiences on I vowed never to do again! Hospital transport is awful and not sure I even qualify any more but for a 20min car journey and half hour apt you be expected to be out house good 8h. It’s just not viable.

Shoulder really hurting today feel like broken collar bone. Havnt of course but when all your muscles and joints hurt it’s to be expected.

Just wanted to share this with you all as I know it can be so so hard to have happy thoughts when you are in constant pain.

We have created a "Jar of Happiness". Every week for the next year all four of need to write on a post it something that has made us smile or lifted our mood that week with our names and the date and pop it in the jar.

Next Christmas we will take them out and read them between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. ❤️

@SpookyScarySkeletons what a fantastic idea! I think I'll steal it.

Akire · 03/01/2022 13:12

That’s lovely idea well done. I’ve been trying do positive affirmations today. So I stead moaning how much left to do I’ve been saying well done you cleared that surface. Well done you did a wash. It’s going take some effort get out of negative “I havnt done this or that” but even if it’s small thing hoping saying it will help.

Waiting for new planner to arrive which always helps. Think it should be here tomorrow. I’m a tick n list person and as much as I live technology I prefer dates and stuff to be in hard copy! Probable my age

Lol defo not age! I'm 37 and I need a handwritten meal plan ever week and proper lists for work which I can highlight every time I have completed a task! (Every time I complete a task I end up with 3 more to add but that's another story) 😂

I bought an organiser/diary at the start of 2020. What a waste of money that was!!

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/01/2022 13:26

I'm 30 and love a handwritten list!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 04/01/2022 01:03

i have to write things down or i forget everything, my short term memory is shockingly bad. I have a lovely pen pot full of nice pens and a white cat thingy that dispenses post it notes :D
