Hi everyone, first time here. Recently diagnosed with chronic sciatica. I can only weight bear on my left leg for around 10 mins at a time. Also have herniated discs too Sad
Been offered an MRI and possible epidural injection. Does anyone have any prior exp of the injections and do they work? If it doesn't I will need surgery and the thought of it petrifies me.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 12/12/2021 11:09

Happy Sunday all! Well kinda happy Sunday.

Pain is still trying to defeat me and it's coming up to time to ask for more cocodamol. Praying my request bypasses the meanie doctor.

Poor little cat has been back to the vets again. She has an E Coli infection so I'm having to wrap her in a blanket twice a day to syringe antibiotics into her mouth. So far I am definitely coming off worse!!

And to top it off we have been the victims of identity theft. DH got a letter from DWP yesterday warning that he had been claiming UC fraudulently and it all needs to be repaid. Neither of us have ever claimed UC.

Spending my Sunday finding out what we need to do and speaking to action fraud to get a crime number.

What are everyone's plans today?

Akire · 12/12/2021 12:15

Oh no @SpookyScarySkeletons hope you can get some advice. It’s up to them to do some basic checks surely some asking for you to upload ID and proof of documentation and council tax doc at the like. Plus the money easily traced as it’s not going into an account in your husbands name. I would start a new thread about. But v stressful.

Hi @MissCrowley welcome someone here has just had it but can’t find their user name right now.

My chest is still quite tight and feels fluid filled mornings. But it’s not just annoying coughing for few hours. Need to really try have shower today not sure how good the odds are !

@Akire

Thanks *@RainbowZebraWarrior* funny just watching people Kiss on tv feels so strange all squelching put me off every kissing again. Sex seems far less intimate.

Sorry you had upset afternoon @bicyclesaredeathtraps hope it did the trick.

I’m sure I be fine just had process some things. Apart from thinking thank goodness I somehow managed get through that not sure what else we are supposed to do with feelings. For most normal people it’s a very rare event, for us feeling so sick and being incapacitated and having fend for self is constant thing. It does not become any easier does it. I don’t really know many single people even family so really hard to explain people. Anyway sure I just battle on we don’t have any choice so we. Just feel like something I should be doing with myself. No idea what.

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight x

Yeah I get this. I'm currently single and living alone, it's lonely and I do wish I could see people more often, or just be cared for a bit sometimes. You're right, it doesn't get any easier.
Akire · 12/12/2021 13:17

Yes maybe that’s it a longing to be cared for. I had plenty friend offer to help with covid but I needed Hand on help not shopping delivered to the door. By the time I’ve sent a list I can get groceries on an app in 15min. For me it was laying all night in vomit filled bed, unable to eat for week but no one to bring me tempting snacks or drinks. Or even just offer bowl for me have wash or stick on some washing.

Been trying think of anything else I can buy do make these situations better but I think I prep eveything I can there isn’t anything more. No idea how I can spoil or treat myself “self care” crap either. I need shower but not feel up to it yet !

Sorry to hear that @Akire it is awful to feel in need of a shower and not be able to manage it. I do shower, but some days I find I am absolutely shattered after that especially if I have to wash my hair. I think you are right that people just don’t get it. Hope that you will feel a little better tomorrow.

I have made myself ache writing Christmas cards, we don’t send that many but still have some elderly relatives and even some friends our age who don’t do Facebook so the card and our annual newsletter are something they look forward to. My fibromyalgia magazine arrived on Friday with hints for Christmas which seemed to be mainly be not doing things and having nothing nice to eat ☹️

ndo4000 · 12/12/2021 18:21

Hi @MissCrowley I am in the same situation as you. Sorry you are dealing with this too.

I had an epidural steroid injection yesterday for a bulging L5 disc. It wasn't the worst thing in the world to be honest.

Today I still have pain in my leg but they said to expect that as the steroids take a few days to work. So still on my pain meds for a few days.

I have been taking it easy today. Woke up at 3:30am today wide away, so came back to bed after lunch and am still here! I think hospital stays and anaesthetic do weird things to me!!

If the pain doesn't improve then I'm going to have to consider surgery. But I'll be getting a second opinion first!

In the meantime I am taking loads of vitamins to try and help - cod liver oil, b-12, biocult, CBD oil. And trying to eat lots of anti inflammatory foods. Hoping to see my physio soon so I can have some exercises to do over the Xmas holiday.

HerRoyalHappiness · 12/12/2021 19:53

Sorry everyone's having a rubbish time of things. The cold weather doesn't help.

Akire · 12/12/2021 22:17

What’s everyone who has covid in last month doing about their 3rd jab? NHS seemed to be saying wait 28 days now seen on here it’s recommended 3m that’s awful lot of people who had covid last few weeks that can’t get any more protection against omicron. I was hoping to relax slightly on covid front but now seems I’m worse off if I never had covid to start with.

Not had bad afternoon still not getting out bed still but least managed some TV so got through the day.

I haven't seen the 3 months thing? Me, DH and DD(12) had it at start of November but I was going by 28 days for me and DH but 12 weeks for DD as under 16.
Akire · 12/12/2021 22:41

Is that 28 days from first day symptoms or day you got PCR back?

OP posts:
SpookyScarySkeletons · 12/12/2021 23:10

Don't quote me but I think it's 28 days since start of symptoms or from PCR if asymptomatic

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/12/2021 11:42

Good morning all. Having a surprisingly good day today, although very tired.

Akire · 13/12/2021 14:22

Hi @HerRoyalHappiness glad you having good day. I forced myself to pop out 5min down road as been struggling with anxiety since lockdown. Which can manage but then every time lift breaks or chair breaks I'm stuck in for weeks or months it resets my anxiety again. Been in for 2 weeks with covid and thought if I don’t force myself today it be bigger and bigger scary thing. So pleased made it out, and cough didn’t play up and scare anyone with change in temp.

Chest hurting now more random stabbing pains not sure how much supposed hurt for. Not keen on contacting Gp as it be “ohhhhhh chest pain panic” when it’s obvious post covid. Not all time sure it improve in few hours.

In other boring news had parcel yesterday which has now gone AWOL I live in tiny studio flat so there’s no where it could be! Sort thing like when you wrapping presents you do not move and the scissors just disappears! Lucky was treat present for me not a gift but still. Feel like cracking up!!

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/12/2021 14:25

@Akire well done on getting out.
My mum still has random chest pains 2 months after having covid.

Akire · 13/12/2021 14:28

That’s really helpful thanks! Yes like been punched hard chest but just tiny spot.

How everyone Xmas planning going? It always feels long run up Xmas then it’s 13th a Dec and delivery dates are like 20th sounds really close. I’m hoping go stay with family on 23rd if Welsh Gov don’t close boarders again like last time. I’m allowed a bubble as single Person but trying argue that with police car on M4 is not easy thing!

OP posts:
HerRoyalHappiness · 13/12/2021 15:04

I'm all sorted for Christmas.
Presents bought and wrapped, presents sent off to @OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack
Alcohol bought. My mum does dinner so that's sorted, and regardless of any new lockdown rules I'll be allowed to go as she's my bubble with being my carer.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 13/12/2021 15:15

wiating for your parcel to be picked up @HerRoyalHappiness it should be soon though and should be there by the end of the week if not before

im knackered, im having night terrors again and then cant sleep after them so im exhausted from being up int he early hours and my pain is bad becaus eof the cold and damp

Akire · 13/12/2021 15:33

That sounds rough @OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack is there average length time they last for? Is your home cold and damp or does weather make it feel worse?
