Hello,

This thread is to share the day to day... The moans, rants, fears, anger of day to day living with pain... And let's be positive where we can too... Little or big achievements.

I've had a tough day with my grumpy toddler who is obsessed with biting, he made my shoulder bleed today 😢

On the plus side, had a great pilates class and managed some tricky stuff despite feeling exhausted... I couldn't have done it unless my teacher was on Zoom telling me to hold it!

Very ambitious and now I want cake!

AdditionalCharacter · 14/03/2021 19:06

@doadeer that sounds quite scary, I'd be the same. Can the doctors offer you some sort of sedative at all, just to calm your nerves?

doadeer · 14/03/2021 20:07

I think mild sedation but I seem to have a high tolerance and it always still hurts on other procedures. I need to try and control this anxiety I have a week to go. I did 30 mins of mindfulness tonight but couldn't switch off.

This is the best I’ve felt all day. Anyone feel urge get up do things at random times not to waste any good minutes? Or just me?

MrsAvocet · 14/03/2021 22:41

Not exactly Akire, but I have a tendency to do extra stuff when things are going well. Like if I've planned to say, clean the kitchen and I still feel ok I'll think "right, I'll do the bathrooms whilst I'm on a roll because otherwise who knows when I'll feel up to it."
There's a fine line between making the most of a good spell and overdoing things though and I'm not very good at walking it!

Sooverthemill · 15/03/2021 08:42

@MrsAvocet the temptation is to do stuff isn’t it? While you are on a roll
@sonicshoegazes that sounds truly awful! Are you being looked after?

Hey everyone, had another busy weekend. We're planning on moving house sometime this year (hopefully) so trying to start decluttering now with the idea that I can pace myself as there's no urgency to it. Still knackering though, especially taking stuff to the dump. So struggling a bit today.

On the other hand though I've been working on improving my diet, not comfort eating/ choosing better foods etc. As a result I'm struggling slightly less with digestive problems, and have even lost a little weight. Once I think I've got myself into a routine with it I'm going to try and start adding a little (very gentle) exercise to try and strengthen my core. I'm trying to do little steps, rather than doing loads, expecting massive changes and then giving up when that doesn't happen.

Sooverthemill · 15/03/2021 09:34

@MedusasBadHairDay that sounds good re diet. I had severe campylobacter poisoning last year and as a result am gluten and lactose intolerant now and I feel much better generally having stopped eating them.

AdditionalCharacter · 15/03/2021 09:37

@Akire I came back from the school run and cleaned the living room top to bottom. I say that's a win day for me.

Lovely and sunny here today, tempted to go for a walk, my friend has been asking for us to meet up outside (as now permitted) but I don't want to be the one who moans constantly about how crap it's been recently.

Moving is so hard, take my hat off. I need some major declutters to, but you have that stage of making everything much much worse then you have to sort.

I’m just waking up, so very jealous you have a clean living room already.

Do you think Covid has giving us bit more lean way as other can main and we can do some slightly low level moan (like them) without being accused of “being negative”.

AdditionalCharacter · 15/03/2021 10:41

I think so. Shielding is crap, I hate it, I feel trapped. The dc going to school has helped a bit though. My friend is lovely and understanding, but I'm normally the one she leans on, so feel a bit odd moaning to her when she has so much herself.

Akire · 15/03/2021 10:45

Didnt know you been shielding, sorry. I’ve been out few times but mainly for appointments and the like. The only good thing about Covid is when you are used to being to ill to for out for months at a time, we have least had practise.

Not done my hair in a month it’s is a huge mess. But kills my arms, and now it’s all matted so take major effort to undo even few knots. This close to just shaving it all off, in all seriousness.

AdditionalCharacter · 15/03/2021 11:50

Short hair sounds like a good idea, it'll make it so much easier for you.

doadeer · 15/03/2021 11:52

@MedusasBadHairDay if you need any tips on exercise I'm a bit of a pilates and yoga fanatic so I can recommend lots. Particularly gentle stuff to start with

That would be really helpful, thank you!

Today I have took my girls to school and handed in application form.

Came home and hovered and tidied living room and dining room from my manual chair to save my back and legs.

Sorted out dry washing on our hanging bars and hung up two loads of washed wet clothes and towels. From my upstairs bathroom perching chair, using a rod with a hook to put things up on the hanging bars above our landing. Plus cleaned upstairs litter tray.

Just having a lie down, to reduce pain in my back and legs.

Then I plan to hoover hallway downstairs and clean downstairs litter tray.

Then back to school at 3pm to pick my girls back up again.

Tomorrow will be kitchen day or bathroom. I have to restart my chore app, see if I can get more organised.

Truth is I will be so tired and in pain by tomorrow, that I won't do enough, sigh :(

MrsAvocet · 15/03/2021 12:54

My achievement for today is that I did 35 Covid tests at my sons' school this morning. I'm tired now though, but fortunately I can have a quiet afternoon.

Akire · 15/03/2021 13:20

Something is in the air! Had a quick tidy up of the kitchen too. Needs more of a sort but have to start some where. It is motivating when you can see improvements.

doadeer · 15/03/2021 13:38

I think these are great core exercises.

They key things to think about, imagine your pelvis and lower tummy is really heavy but at the same time draw up through your pelvic floor. When you raise your legs into tabletop make sure knee is above hip. Have a quick feel of the bottom of your tummy (bikini line area) if it's hard you're doing it right. Having your legs like this is very very difficult it shouldn't feel easy. Just imagine your walking. Leg 1 up to table top, leg 2 up to tabletop, leg 1 down, leg 2 down. Key thing is don't let your back arch. This is cheating 🤣

I am pleased I managed to Hoover hall, clean out downstairs litter tray.

My mum rang and asked if she could help by picking up my girls. Hurrah. So I am trying to think how much energy I have left, can I do a first sweep of the kitchen? I aim to and then off to bed as soon as possible, I am so tired. But the house is looking a little better. Hopefully by Friday it will be loads better Grin

My 1pm painkillers are working well, need to do as much as possible before 5pm when they wear off!

doadeer · 15/03/2021 15:20

Oh that's my life too... Centred around pain relief. I had a busy morning, a play therapist comes in the morning to help my son then I had my physio/pilates at 12.30 - now I am shattered and counting down to partner finishing at 6pm. TV goes on from 4pm as I'm too tired to do any exciting play

I did a layer of the kitchen, deep breathing through my pain, with a comedy show on the radio trying to distract me.

I have a small amount of stuff to go in the dishwasher which is full of clean stuff. But I could not unload and load. I am done.

Kids back and as soon as tea is over, I can hear my bed calling :)

Worrysaboutalot · 15/03/2021 15:59

doadeer (((hugs))) I hear you.

I feel so guilty that my kids have far too much screen time, as I make decisions between what I can do and what I can't!

But we can only try, our best can't we :)
