Curse the sadists that work at Playmobil...

or my alternative title, "why did none of you warn me????"

...when i carefully choose DS1 the Playmobil Knights tower. We open the box this am and my heart sinks as I realise I am staring at about 1000 teeny tiny pieces. None of which are in the same plastic bags relating to the corresponding instruction number... 2 1/2 hours later, with cuts all over my fingers, I'm still sticking plastic flames into plastic flame holders and attaching them with microscopic black dots to plastic walls. Bless my poor DS, who patiently played with only the knights for what seemed like an eternity, whilst watching me muttering curses and running out of the room sporadically shouting "just got to turn the roasties darling, be back in a minute to build the portcullis (sp?)".

Anyone else heart sink when they opened their LO's presents, as they naively hadn't calculcated into their plans how much time the toy would take to build?

love PM.

I had to push my Dd and Dns to one side several times as I insisted on putting together the 'ice cream palour, horse shower thingy and whale/boat set'.

I am the PM master!

isn't the building part the whole point of playmobil? making it first is a bit like buying your kids lego but building it beforehand? playmobil is well easy compared to the hell of lego, which I refuse to get involved with at all = they can have it but they have to build it and then there is no playing with it

Jonah - DD2 says yes please! I have you on facebook i think so will converse over there!

Playmobil is banned in my house, along with Moonsand, Playdoh, plasticine and anything with tiny little parts.

They can play with it at other people's houses / nursery as far as I'm concerned!

mwah ha haaaaaaa

Loudlass - I promise to be putting the dinosaur together tomorrow, so will help with the moss

CardyMow · 28/12/2009 20:41

....The moss instructions really really DO look like an Escher drawing.....

We got the cargo ship for ds2 in the box sale but I didn't realise that its cargo is a big bag of coal. Not real coal, though I wouldn't have been surprised, but the next best thing - a big bag full of tiny plastic coal bits. I have banned it (likewise the aforementioned cutlery from the camper van) and the DSs are happily putting their toy cars in the hold instead. It's also mahoosive - more or less life size.

I adore playmobil, but I do think the teeny bits of schmutter are a bit unecessary. The captain has a wheely suitcase and some miniscule binoculars, and there are all manner of unidentified rope-related things.
