oh fgs... came home about 8pm to a cold house, no heating, no hot water - 11 people coing for Christmas dinner tomorrow. -

So (now) we have British Gas Homecare jobby and someone coming out to see us in the morning. Not quite how I envisaged Christmas Eve, standing in the garage with the boiler looking bewildered!

Merry Christmas bah humbug - I'm freezing!

DH is gas engineer has questions!

Is it combi boiler, make model?

Any lights flashing?

What does pressure gauge read (if there is one)

Ours broke today too. If it's a combi, I can tell you how to fix it!

The condensor pipe outside is probably frozen. Ours had a flashing error code, but the homecare people couldn't come out till Monday. I looked on the internet, and it's a really common problem because it's so cold (minus 7 here during the day today).

DH detached the pipe, got rid of the ice, put it back, pressed the reset button and it works. I have never been so happy, because we're having 11 people round for dinner tomorrow too and our house is very old and very very cold.

Hope this helps.
