and can't look at photos that were already on there or take new ones. Old photos already on laptop so that's okay, but need it for photos of present opening tomorrow morning as all relatives are on other side of world - and it's 11:30 pm already.

how can I "initialise" it, or otherwise make it usable? Any ideas?

Can you put the card in your camera then connect camera to computer directly? I've had a similar problem and the computer will only let me view pics when memory card is in camera. You should have a USB cable that came with the camera?

Igglybuff · 24/12/2009 16:41

Sounds silly but make sure you turn camera on when you connect to the pc as well!

Mmmango · 24/12/2009 16:45

When I put the card back in the camera, it says' card not inititalised in there too and I can't do anything...

Am trying to think where the USB cable might be, though!

Bums I have no other ideas! You might be able to initialise the card via the camera although will probably lose pictures. You'll have to check the manual or google it...

Mmmango · 24/12/2009 17:03

google is a good idea, at least i know where that is - unlike the manual

Reformat the card - it sounds like it has become corrupted. Failing that, get a new one from a petrol station?

Mmmango · 24/12/2009 17:15

thank you both, googled and found out how to reformat the card, and it seems to have worked. Panic over
