Just went to get teh milk and when I shut the door realised that because my DH put 2 bottles of Champagne in the fridge last night the door hasn't been closed properly! Everything we have for Christmas dinner is in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The turkey is still cold to touch and the milk hasn't gone off.

Am I going to kill us all if I cook it?

you should be fine- is everything else cold to touch as well?

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 24/12/2009 08:50

Our fridge beeps if it goes below a "safe" temperature. If yours does that too and it wasn't beeping you will be fine...

DuelingFanjo · 24/12/2009 08:51

everything else is coldish. None of it is as cold as it should be but nothing seems to be sweating. Mostly worried because the orange juice at the very top is barely cold and that's the coldest part of the fridge!

what was the gap? was it a crack or was it a good couple of inches?

belgo · 24/12/2009 09:00

I'm sure it will be fine, our house gets very cold at night when the heating is off.

belgo · 24/12/2009 09:00

You would expect the top of the fridge to be warmest because hot air rises, so the orange juice being warmest is normal.

daisydotandgertie · 24/12/2009 09:02

It'll be fine! Although the fridge has probably been working very hard overnight to keep itself cold.

If you have a thermometer, pop it into the back of the fridge and I'm sure it'll show that everything is still quite cold enough.

thanks all - I feel a bit more ok about it

The gap wasn't wide enough for the light to have come on, It was just not doing that sort've suction grip thing you get when a door is properly closed.
