Do you give a gift to the milkman/postman/dustman at Christmas?

My mother used to always do this so have just given the dustmen some money.

Just wondered if people still give gifts to these people and if so what is the going rate? Still thinking what to give the milkman and postman.

We always give something to the postman as he's been our posty for years and always keeps an eye on everyone in the village. He's just become a dad for the first time so we normally send vouchers as neither he and his wife drink.

We use to give dustmen something when it was only 2 of them but now we get 3 vans with 2-3 people on each so gets a bit silly.

We no longer have a milkman as he use to deliver the wrong order all the time.

Just given the postie a tenner as he's lovely- but no one else- Don't have a window cleaner, dustbin men- too many of them now, no milkman.

We don't have a milkman anymore, but last year we tipped them a fiver. They were mardy sods, but it seemed only fair

Binmen - I used to know our binmen and they were helpful. We gave them beer and chocs and bunged our favourite one a twenty pound note. Now we have different ones all the time and they are rude and grumpy, so nada for them.

Postie gets nothing. Always different people and none of them are very friendly.

It's really lovely to get a gift - I used to get a little box of chocs when I worked at WHSmiths because I put aside Mills & Boon books every month for a little old lady Didn't do it for the chocs but it was so lovely of her and I felt really appreciated.
