Has anyone tried making their own gift bags?

I hit the shops yesterday for the sole purpose of obtaining a few specific-sized gift bags and some plain gift tags. I eventually found some ok-ish gift tags, but drew a blank on the gift bags - most places seem to have sold out completely, and those that do have them want £3-£4 for them, which seems an insane rip-off for the wrapping for ONE present.

I'm fairly competent at wrapping in general, so was wondering if anyone had had any luck making them? I only want 2 or 3 to hold a couple of fragile or tiny presents. Am I crazy? What kind of paper would I need, because I'm fairly sure normal wrapping paper would be too flimsy. Would parcel-type paper be better?

Any advice, tips or experiences welcome!

have a look on the martha stewart website, I'm sure I've made gift bags from there in previous years.

the woman makes me cringe but I like stealing using her templates

will try to find a link...

Ah, thank you! I didn't think of using a template. I'm going to try with normal paper as I couldn't find any stiff wrapping paper - very limited choice left in the shops!

I've made some before. Think I made them by wrapping them round a solid box and then sliding that out IYSWIM. Did use some thin cardboard ie cornflake packet, to give them a little rigidness, otherwise just used wrapping paper. Forgot to get nice ribbon for handles though
