best way to do thank you cards when you have loads of kids?

But Christmas, how does it work, esp when some of the kids are too young (dd 18 months)

Do you write 1 thank you card per person and just say thanks for the presents to all of us, llots of love, THE KIDS,

or thanks for the - huge long list detailing everything - from THE KIDS

Seems unfair to get the older kids to write all the cards for all of them?

One card form all of you saying thank you for the lovely gifts, and get the children to sign their names, with you signing the youngest children's names.

Get them to design a letter on the computer, put some phots on, sign it from everyone and print off loads of copies. Job done.

I would mention specific presents, but on the one thankyou from everyone. 'X loves his car, the jumper really suits Y' sort of thing

very good idea purepurple, we did that for ds's baptism - a card with a couple of photos saying thank you. It didn't feel very personal but with three small children I was just pleased I had time to send thank you cards!

, only trouble with mentioning individual presents is I have 4 kids, and eg my mum has bought them 1 or 2 each plus 3 to share, so if I mention each gift, that's about 11 items, so worried it starts to sound more like a shopping list, iyswim?

Oh, another thing, ds has birthday 1 week after Christmas, so should I do a thanks for the Christmas pressies and thanks for (specific present) for birthday all in 1 card, or do I have to make and send 2 thank you cards pretty much at the same time, which also feels a bit weird?

if ds gets separate bday adn xmas presents (as he should) then i think it should be separate cards.

i have not got loads of kids btw, but do find sending a picture of happy child with present is good way of thanking.

Another vote for printing a standard letter with photos. Leave enough space for the children to sign, and maybe write a quick personal note if there's a particular present they love (e.g. "Dear Uncle Bruce, Thanks for the slingshot I love it! Love Tarquin")

photos good idea but can't prepare in advance, ie today (sulk)

Wail, do I really have to do sep Christmas and thank you cards? Esp if I can't prepare in advance, then there's going to be like 1 day inbetween the 2 cards, all that international postage, still smarting from the Christmas cards

Oh I know it would be better, but there's just so much and I'm lazy not very creative.

I use Photobox for making thank you cards at Christmas time - they do a simple photocard with a photograph on one side and then you can type in a standard message e.g.

^Dear , Thank you for the lovely Christmas presents you sent us. We've had a fun time playing with all our new things.

Children can fill in the to/from bit if they're old enough. My DD's birthday is just before Christmas so although I try to post most of the thank you letters beforehand some of them will be posted in the same envelopes as the Christmas thank yous.

I use photobox too, I also have child with pre Xmas birthday and other is post Xmas. I do thank you cards for birthday and then Xmas and oh no, then it is another round for next birthday. Sometimes I might jumble them all in together and one thank you to cover the lot.
