Sorry if this has been done before but is this the done thing? I have a delivery coming this morning and don't want to seem churlish but also don't want to be embarassingly lady of the manor either!!

I have never tipped a food delivery man in my life

misshardbroom · 21/12/2009 10:51

nooooo. Surely not?

(but then, I don't tip anyone except waitresses)

nannyzo · 21/12/2009 11:54

My dp works for a couple hours on a sun for them, and he got a couple of tips yest which were very much appriciated *sp, But he didnt expect them!

teenyweenytadpole · 22/12/2009 11:27

In the end I didn't, very nice delivery man but it didn't feel like the thing to do and he didn't loiter expectantly! We always used to tip the bin men but now we have all the different recycling lorries that would mean tipping about four different crews, which seems a bit OTT.

I think I've read on previous threads that they aren't allowed to accept tips so it maybe be safer not to offer rather than run the risk of an awkward situation.

Certainly when we started out with Sainsburys Delivery there was a FAQ on the site saying not to tip and they weren't allowed to accept tips. I've no idea if that's still the policy, but I never have anyway.
