Help with my Tesco Christmas food order

Just a quick one hopefully. Hope I've put this in the right place.

I have a Tesco grocery delivery booked for 22nd. Was just adding some items to it, but seem to be unable to find or add Turkey - whole or crown. Have I missed something?? If I can't get one delivered, then I may as well go to my local Sainsburys for my shop if I've got to go for the Turkey anyway!!

I had no probs ordering a Turkey crown with my sainsburys order last year.

Please let me what I'm doing wrong!!

Ta

With some online supermarkets they won't let you order turkey as part of a main order. I am sure that with Waitrose you have to order it separately to collect in store. Not sure about Tesco though.

I think it was last week sometime that Tesco said on the website that that day was the last day to add turkeys to the Christmas order. I don't remember them doing this last year, and I only saw it because I happened to go on the site for something else.

To Tesco: thanks for letting us know.

unbelievable

i almost didnt believe it... i thought you must be wrong, so i logged into tesco and sure enough unless you want diced or minced turkey they have no turkey on offer

Just found this about Tesco turkey

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 20/12/2009 20:57

yep, the last week you could get your turkey delivered was last week. not very helpful if you want it to last till 25th dec!

and we tried to book our online shop last week for next week only to find there wasnt a single delivery slot left. they could have emailed to say when to book from, as now we will have to go and do the xmas shop and im working all week. ive no idea when ill get time.

LadyPeterWimsey · 20/12/2009 20:58

I can understand that they need to know in advance, but I'm sure you can't have been the only one caught out. No consolation, though.

MrsBish · 20/12/2009 21:02

Many thanks. Soo frustrating!!

So plan B, have just seen that my local sainsburys has delivery slots for tomorrow (monday) night. Do you reckon that the turkey (yes, available from sainsburys!), veg and croissants will keep until 25th?

Vicar, I think you had to add it to your order by last week. Mine is still ordered for Tuesday and there is a turkey in it - officially. Mind you a few years ago it didn't turn up at all and I got £25 credit to my account for the inconvenience.

Should keep, I would think, although maybe not croissants. Can you freeze them?

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 20/12/2009 21:06

What a nightmare , however i got the last turkey crown in my asda yesterday.
Have put it in freezer until the big day , can you freeze the other bits ?
Well done on finding anywhere with delivery slots at this short notice.

I would call out tom for your turkey then and stick with original slot.
At least you can go straight in and out if you only going for one thing!

I think most slots for next week were booked up weeks ago!

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 22/12/2009 22:46

typical. i pay for tesco delivery week in week out then miss the bloody nightmare week!
