How much do grand parents buy for grand children?

How much do your parent (children's grand parents) buy for their grand children at x-mas?

I often see on here people saying grand parents are buying dc * and ** and i always seem to feel a bit .

My mum spends around 5-8 pounds on the dd's for x-mas, i am very grateful (i'm not trying to sound ungrateful) but these are her only 2 grand children and she has no one else (other than her partner) to buy for, she's not that short of cash yet she hardly ever buys the dd's anything.

I know i'm probably going to get called 'ungrateful' but just wondered how much grand parents spent on your dc's?

My parents are dead, so the dcs have just dh's parents. They don't really deserve the title of 'grandparents'. 'Grossparents' more like. They spend money on themselves like it is going out of fashion, but are incredibly parsimonious with their grandchildren, making sure that the £10 per child sum is not exceeded. Worse than that, because money is only money, is that I don't think they'd recognise the dcs in a line-up.

The £10 rule is in effect for us as well. One year we said we'd like some wine glasses. So they bought us 5, quite openly saying that to have bought 6 would have gone over budget. And then they had the audacity to sit down at our Christmas table and stuff themselves and they hadn't even brought one mince pie, let alone a box of After Eights.

Steam....

My mum and dad spend around £30 on each child, rarely less, sometimes a bit more. We know they spend this much because this is what they budget for and they ask us or the children for ideas of what they can get them.

The have 5 dgc. The spend the same amount on each and would be mortified at the very idea of buying any one more than the others.

They haven't got much money and they save up so that they can do this.

Dh's mum and dad spend around £20. Again, they haven't much money and save up hard for this - they have 9 dgc and their gifts are very generous.

We have 3 DC's and IL spend £hundreds. IMO it's way too much.

We don't buy them anything for Christmas - will get them stuff as they need it during the year.
