I want to know about the bizarre combinations of people you're feeding at Christmas

On Christmas Day we will have me, DH, the 4 DCs, ex-DH (father of older DCs), his girlfriend (and for part of the day we'll have the GF's DSs), my stepmother, and DD's unsuitable and feckless friend. I don't really understand why the feckless friend is coming.

There must be odder combinations out there?

We used to have an old lonely woman my mum knew from
church every Xmas as she had no where else to go
this year we might have dh's colleague who can't afford to fly home to India where all his family are

Not me but my Mum will celebrate with her DS (erm, my brother), his wife, their DD, my brother's DSS and his wife's DSGD (step granddaughter)

Did you follow that?

I think these odd permutations of people are probably very character-building for us .

One year, ex-DH, the older DCs and I spent Christmas together despite the fact that ex and I had split up not long before and tensions were running pretty high. Ex-DH decided to invite a Chinese student of his who had virtually no English and looked slightly stunned during the entire day - I'd love to know what the hell he made of it all.

not on the day itself, just the usual suspects for the actual day.. but during christmas week, we've got friends who are now ex's with their new partners, RAF man and his new piece ( I say piece as he can't hold a relationship longer than 3 months, and dh happens to dislike him as he is also an almost ex of mine, long and complicated story lol), free range mama and papa and her brood ( all totally lovely), a single peadactric doc,the art crowd and computer programmers ( all wonderfully weird).

it'll be fun and will make a very interesting dinner combo
