Having a three bird christmas.. got the cranberry sauce sorted for the turkey, the apple for the goose.. can't decide on the sauce for the duck.. great ideas welcome.

maybe a plum? or is there a great one that would do all three birds?

can't decide .. aghhh

Have you got three individual birds or are they all sort of stuffed into one another?

plumpud · 17/12/2009 21:43

went for the individual birds rather than the roll

Plum sauce would be nice, or cherry sauce, maybe rather difficult to source in December? I wouldn't go for one sauce for the three as they are very different. A duck classic is orange sauce, or is that too Seventies?
Whatever sauce you go for, it sounds like a fabulous feast. I am sure that your guests will love it.

oooh cherry .. hadn't thought of that.. Nom nom < wanders off to find a good recipe.>

trying to steer away from orange tbh..

well not a major feast got small to medium birds, but with the three everyone can have a bit of everything.. I really wanted to have something abit different this year.. but also keep to tradition.

Did you find anything plumpud?
I am doing duck, but have no idea about sauce...

ahh yes am doing a simple cherry sauce

250g (8oz) stoned cherries
100ml (3½fl oz) red wine
1tbsp cornflour

and while i'm doing that last shop tomorrow morning I'm popping to our local farm shop who do a nice plum chutney.

so there will be a choice
