Hama beads

Decorate your own T shirt kit

mine still likes playdoh

basically sewing best avoided as it makes too much mess

stick-on make-your-own-frames not too bad

Mine dd likes sewing and there are somelovely easy sewing kits. She's made some lovely christmas tree decorations.

I've got her a sewing kit for Christmas

Fabric paints also good.

Personally think hama beads a little fiddly and messy (but my dd is a little ham fisted)

Thanks for suggestions so far, anyone else please?

ShakerMaker - easy no-mess plaster casting and fun to paint. Several themesavailable. DS2 had a Star Wars one.

Well, my 7 yr old DS really enjoyed making soap with me yesterday. Basically, you buy something called "melt and pour" soap which is just a base, then melt it and add colourings, scent and anything else you like. We made dark green and red bathces, then put them in christmas ice cube trays, and half an hour later hey presto - you have lots of little soaps. I noticed that on ebay they do a children's set, so you could try that. here

Also, he has decorated jam jars with glass paints, which he really enjoyed too (much to my surprise I have to say!)

"green and red batches" Too early in the morning for typing!

Those little sets of metal meccano type stuff that they seem to sell in poundland

I got my DD a jewellery kit this year. She loves this kind of thing.
