Yes, was lovely. No hassle at all. I put mine in a cool box (picnic type one) on the deckin on evening of 23rd - well worth it IMO

Not soaked it (in what, may I ask?) but I usually go for the fast, hot roasting she advocates.

Morosky · 16/12/2009 18:08

Yes and it was delicious, dp who is a very fussy eater loved it.

Had not thought of using coolbox thanks for the tip.

It adds to the whole getting ready for a special day feeling

Yes it was yum. And the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special gave hours of ho-ho-ho-ing to my family as I was EXACTLY like Gav's Dad about it!

Put in in cool box, loads of water, star anaise, peppercorns, mapule syrup, honey, boquet garnie, orange, onion, cinnimon, and a few other herbs and spices.

It makes a kind of brine.

I kept checking on it every couple of hours in a newborn sleeping in a moses basket kinda way

Its honestly fab, really moist.

Ooooh Sounds lovely!! I wont have time to do that with my turkey though as its only being killed on in the evening of 23rd - collect it 24th at Lunch time 2 hours drive away - will coincide with a visit to some relative too!

boardbunny · 16/12/2009 20:08

My dad did this last year, it was the nicest, moistest turkey ever! Would definitely recommend, even though the idea of a turkey sat in a bucket for two days was a bit odd.

MrsSaxon · 17/12/2009 19:58

I did it, was the best Turkey ever! I brined it for the full 48 hours, was magic throwing all the spices in!

I followed the recipe in her Feast cook book, cannot recommend highly enough.

MrsTicklemouse · 17/12/2009 20:19

we did not sure it made any difference but it was fun to do with the boys!!

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 17/12/2009 20:22

oooh might be tempted to try it this year.
