I went through a long period (pretty much my entire teens and twenties) of hating Christmas, so I relate.

I like it now. I'm not remotely religious and see it more as a good old mid-winter Pagan knees up - good food, rest 6 relaxation, see friends etc.

The 'perfect family Christmas' that we are force fed by the media and big business totally turns me off.

Yes.

I don't hate Christmas, but I do hate the stress that seems to go with it, i.e.

  • feeling like I am forced into buying presents for people I don't like much (i.e. certain members of DH's family)
  • the annual Christmas card torture ritual - do we send them one as we didn't get one from them last year etc etc
  • the annual argument over who is hosting Christmas this year (usually starts about September time but this year it was August )

I could go on.
Other than that, I absolutely adore Christmas itself - am not religious but still want my children to know what Christmas is really about!
