Oh God just me then. The one next to it was made by my sister. Surely that's worse?

Flightattendant · 12/12/2009 16:23

i dont have a picture but i made some ribbon thingys - wooden embroidery hoops with loads of different ribbons tied on it - for toddlers to wave around as they dance.

My nephew grabbed it and enthusiastically wafted it around as my brother and SIL looked with polite resigned smiles on their faces. I just know its in the bin (along with the treasure basket i put together for him!). Admittedly i hadnt sealed the ends of the ribbon so after a day of play the ends frayed and he trailed thread around everywhere...

Flightattendant · 12/12/2009 16:39

lol

Sounds really nice in principle though!

yes I believe many wnaky baskets meet with the same fate...

Kind elderly neighbour crocheted a clown doll for the DC that was indescribably awful, nasty nylon 'wool' is colours unknown to nature. She also crocheted a matching blanket which DD immediately adopted as her blanky and is still with us 6 years later.

That's not a dog! It's a rat!

My DS's will be finding sock monkeys made my by own fair hands this Christmas. They are a bit rubbish but are made with love (and socks, obviously).

Eddas · 12/12/2009 17:19

my CM was telling me that her MIL used to knit things, every year her dc would get a jumper, they've got a million knitted toilet roll covers etc etc, but she said the worst ever was a knitted SUIT I nearly PMSL She said it was a red skirt and top What the hell was she supposed to do with it she's a CM so couldn't exactly wear it to work. Still making me chuckle now

Flightattendant · 12/12/2009 17:56

Oh God a red knitted suit. That has to be bad.

yuk - that knitted suit reminds me of The Good Life where Tom wears a green knitted suit they made themselves!

I made my DS a sockmonkey last year butterball and he really likes it! I had thought that all the things i had made for him (appliqued tops with camper van/red bus on them) sock monkey, long snake made from the leg from velvet cords, patchwork quilt etc) had gone unnoticed, but then last week he reeled off a list of things i had made for him - to my mum - with real 'appreciation' or something in his voice (hes only 2.9)aah, it was all worth it!

This thread reminds of me of the farmyard that David made for Baby David, on 'The Royle Family' Christmas Special, a few years ago. Stables made from Lambert and Butler packets or some similar safety conscious idea?

I made DD1 (4) a decorated box to keep her hair clips in and she said "It's very nice mummy but I think I'll keep them all where they are." Which is on a small plastic saucer.
