Need stocking filler ideas for 2 year old dd please.....

I seem to be finding lots of little bits and pieces for nearly 5 yr old dd1's stocking, but her sister has hardly anything so far. To me stocking fillers are little and cost up to £5 otherwise it becomes a "proper" present. Am trying to avoid filling it up with too many sweets and chocs so any other ideas would be really gratefully received. Thanks!

I normally put in bits that they need - disney princess knickers, socks, a peppa pig torch, some snap cards but this year, the most important gift is a Peppa Pig necklace and bracelet!!! £3 from Next.

Asda do little musical instruments for £1-£5 - kazoo, maracas (sp?) etc

Marne · 10/12/2009 16:40

tooth brush
bubbles
musical bell (shaker thing)
play-dough/cutters
crayons
mini puzzle
wooden watch

My dd is 19 months but she has

peppa pig stickers
Great Little Trading Co penguin torch
gltc threading toy with cars
clothes for her dolly
a wooden spanner (she loves "fixing")
a twirling drum
a book
mucky pups bath toys
a harmonica
a flannel
clementines
a jar of olives all for her (not in one go)

any of the above on it's own would make her happy tbh. Feel a bit guilty about overwhelming her with presents. She'll like the olives best I know.

Definitely crayons/colouring pencils; bubble bath, toy jewellry, curly straw, painting set, scarf/gloves, socks.

I'm struggling for ideas of what to put in dh's stocking (we do them for eachother). If I put chocolate/edible stuff in, he usually doesn't eat it (there's a pot of posh chocolate spread and a tin of caramelised condensed milk still in the cupboard from last year).

DD will be 21 months. I have/have planned a toy car (she likes toy cars), a small book, socks, hairclips, a little model animal and a notepad. And chocolate coins. I shall raid this thread for other ideas...

LastOfTheMulledWine · 11/12/2009 12:06

DD is 2 and a half and will be getting...

a toy trumpet
notebook and pencils
flannel
soap
toothbrush
hairclips
knickers
wind up toy
stickers
glow in the dark stars
socks
gloves
bubbles
little stamp and ink set
satsuma
mini bubble baths

smiling at monkeysmamma baby and her jar of olives

LastOfTheMulledWine · 11/12/2009 12:08

Oh and some little books.

And the first clue of a treasure hunt!

champagnesupernova · 11/12/2009 12:09

I did also see a thread which said fill up the gaps with tinsel which I plan to use - still Christmassy and THRILLING for a 2 y/o, non?
or Packet of flavoured rice cakes?

bamboo · 11/12/2009 12:17

Lots of good ideas here. Will also be adding a rolled up magazine to my dc's stockings.

StayingSantasGirl · 11/12/2009 13:07

A toy trumpet??? Are you mad, lastofthemulled wine??!! Do you want to be woken up by a child attempting to play trumpet fanfares in your ear at 4.37am on Christmas morning?

Runoutofideas · 11/12/2009 16:02

Great ideas - thanks! Now I just have to source these bits - preferably all in one go. Where did you get them from? Not the olives, by the way, dd2 would be utterly disgusted if I put those in. She ate one once mistaking it for a grape - not a mistake she's made twice... Or the toy trumpet or kazoo - I'm obviously not as brave as you!
