I was just wondering what all of your 9 year old boys are into mine is 9 on christmas day and I am at a loss.
He is into pokemon and wii games but thats about it.
He does like lego but wants the really big expensive sets costing around £40 to £60.
Please has anyone any suggestions from their own experience with thier 9 year old ds and what has gone down a treat with them.
I just think that at 9 they are maybe getting a tad old for lots of things so I am not really sure what is appropriate for this age now.

Bumping for you and watching with interest?

WH Smith has got a range of stuff from the science museum, model solar systems, hot air balloons, build-your-own helicopter type stuff. They range from about £8 to £16. And there was some sort of discount, too.

my ds is 10 & he also loves lego , he is collecting BIONICLES at the moment , they are a kind of lego that you make in robot or alien type characters , they have loads of different types to collect & they are under £10 in smyths , would he be into a mp3 player ? my ds has one & loves it .

also airfix models can be great fun to build & then put up on a shelf in his bedroom ,

I had thought about a mp3 player he does like music.

hi

i have a yr 9 old ds, he is still into lego (thankfully) but also loves anything from modelzone here

good luck !

I agree with Clam, science stuff is always good, as is airfix & any kind of model.
Is he into cars at all? my ds1 loves top gear stuff, anything lamborghini, you can buy metal car model kits from about £10.
Also does he support football team..I'm relying on the Arsenal shop for stocking fillers this year..
How about board games? Do you have Carcassonne?
or Munchkin?
Great games for boys of this age...
Otherwise I'll be buying ds1 some cd's as he's suddenly decided he needs to know what music is cool

I bought my nephews some horrible science kits. I also considered buying them one of those toiletry bags with products, my nephew is always nicking his dad's deodorant and aftershave.

ds has asked for animatazz this year , its an animation kit that kids can make , edit & upload their own animation model onto YouTube , comes with a dvd to show them how to do all this , also lego minotaurus board game might be worth checking out ,
