Dd2 has eaten every ones advent calanders

She is only two and doesn't quite 'get' how they work. She ate all of her own yesterday. I thought I had moved dd1's where she couldn't reach it. It would seem not. While I was tidying the living room she was munching down on dd1's calander in the dining room

Do I replace both calanders, just dd1's or neither?

Dd2 was very upset when I said she would have no more calander. But it doesn't seem fair that dd1 should have none either.

It was actually dd1's she ate in the first place. But I made her swap and give dd1 the one she hadn't eaten. She was still adamant that the unopened one was hers . Today she told me has eaten her calander.

Greedy dd2.

Oh dear.

I would replace DD1's - it's not her fault that DD2 ate hers and she should still have one.

And DD2 is very young to realise how they work.

Not sure what I would do there! I'd probably either replace hers or get her one with pictures only and maybe give her a chocolate button every day when DD1 has her chocolate.

And whatever you buy REALLY put them where DD2 can't get them!

or don't buy advent calenders with chocolate [lentil weaving emoticon]

Dd did this at about the same age too. Miraculously, ds didn't seem too upset at the time and we giggle about it now (he'd kill her now though!).

I think I closed all the doors on the calender and bought some individual chocolates which I kept safe. Each day ds re-opened each door and I gave him a chocolate secretly.

If the calender is all ripped, I'd buy a non-chocolate ones to replace those your dd2 has eaten. Otherwise, she'll probably be tempted to do it again. It's really hard for them at that age!

Replace DD1's with chocolate
get DD2 a choc-free one so that she can still open the doors and will get the idea for next year.

DS accidentally ate DD's chocolate this morning

He was helping her get it out of her calendar, and put it in his mouth without thinking.

He ended up more upset than her, in the end, because I gave her a fun size milky way of his which was in the fridge in recompense - we were late and it was the quickest solution I could come up with.

Mr ds did the same last year. Ho was 2. What wasa worse was that MIL had brought them. I ended up replacing both.

happyharry · 07/12/2009 11:44

Although he didn't finish them. he just took random ones out from both calendars.

geordieminx · 07/12/2009 11:45

Good luck trying to buy an advent calender...

bigchris · 07/12/2009 11:45

I don't buy ones with chocolate

dd and ds argue over who gets to open their calendar first

Flame · 07/12/2009 11:47

Has happened here before too

I would replace both - she is only little. Ours are now hung up in the only place DS can't climb to, in a room with a lock so that even if he does wake early, he can't make a mountain to climb up there

DaftApeth · 07/12/2009 12:44

I've seen loads of advent calenders around. All reduced too

ShinyAndNew · 07/12/2009 12:56

There are some Dairy Milk ones left in Co Op at the top of our street, that are now half price. Although they were over priced to begin with, so still are not cheap. I am sure there are still some in Tesco too.

I have put dd1's (or what is left of it) on the mantle that dd2 cannot reach. I later found her moving the dining furniture into the living room, and just assumed she was copying me, as we have been moving furniture about all weekend.

No she was trying to get the chair alongside the mantle to get to the rest of the calander. It is now in the kitchen cuboard.

She is either very hungry or very determined to get the few chocolates dd1 has left
