Christmas 2010 - want to do something different other than going to inlaws

Have known my Dh for nearly 15 year and with the exception of a hand full , we have spent Christmas with his parents and family . All very nice etc and we are very grateful for their hospitality but to be honest I am getting a bit bored .

We are going there this Christmas but I fancy doing something differnt 2010 .I would like it to be just myslef , Dh and two children .DH doesn't mind this but says 'would like to do something'.

We live close to London so could go up there for days out etc , but the thought of Centre parcs had also crossed my mind. Dont want to go too far as by then we also plan to have a dog .

Any suggestions to make 2010 a bit different besides staying at home ?

A nice, cosy cottage, maybe in the New Forest?

Have found aice cottage in Wye valley - for sven nights over Christmas £899 - not sure whether he would be up for that money - howver still cheaoer than 3 /4 nights at Centre Parcs.

Might broach the subject when he is in a better mood - he is a right grump tonight

Wye Valley is beautiful - that is my neck of the woods. Didn't think you wanted to travel too far?

I did a search on cottages in New Forest but nothing came up for next christmas o only for 27th dec onwards, whic was a bit bizarre was a bit bizarre - I found the Wye Valley one by accident and was really taken by it.

However every year we have to pack , load car up with presents etc and I really wantt to get away from all that.Perhasp I am starting to find it a chore to go to inlaws and perhaps would get a buzz if going elsewhere.
