Can anyone help me find a cheap table and chairs?

We had a butterfly table for in the kitchen like this one, it folds down leaving a small rectangular boxything to put the 4 chairs in

But the council did our kitchen up and we stored it in the garden under the playhouse but its ruined wood soked.

0.We hav14 been eating our dinner on our laps since

But we need a table for christmas,

another foldy one would be ideal but they are too ££ so a small rectangular one with chairs that we could squeeze in the kitchen?

If anyone can find something on sale or discounted with a code I would be very grateful.

Have looked on ebay but all the used ones near us are HUGE and any further afield would require us hiring a man with a van and our budget is very small.

Thanks!

whats your budget?

DisElfchanted3 · 06/12/2009 12:55

As cheap as possible, don't mind used!

We have a local auction and there are tables and chairs that don't actually get sold - due to them not being wanted, so when they do get sold they can be as little as £5 for the whole lot - excuse the pun

i would try freecycle and auctions houses

DisElfchanted3 · 06/12/2009 13:00

Freecycle is difficult though becuase of the sizing, I'd come across as fussy and possibly ungrateful if I asked for measurements/photos etc ...

No auction houses that I know of round here

Tried loot, gumtree, peloved, most of them don't have photos which is a PITA cause we don't drive so its not that easy for us to go and view them.

Can't eat Xmas dinner on the couch!!

Have you had a look in Ikea? We were there yesterday and they had one like you describe. I'll see if I can find a link.

ChilloHippi · 06/12/2009 14:05

Have a look here. There is a table for £29.

DisElfchanted3 · 06/12/2009 14:14

Thanks chillo, theres a table and 4 chairs thats lovely but its still £90,

Its a big expense before Christmas, I had totally gotten used to not having one until I found the christmas tablecloth a few days ago and though 'oh shite'

I've found a few on ebay that look promising if the price stays down.

could you borrow one from someone who's not at home x-mas day . We ate x-mas dinner without a table last year, luckily we have been invited out this year, we havn't got room for a table in our house (its tiny), all we have is a tiny children's table for the girls .

whomovedmychocolate · 06/12/2009 14:21

I would say ebay or perhaps see if there is a local furniture charity around your way (I seem to remember there are a few) - call the council recycling dept and ask them - you may actually find one at the local tip for a few quid too (you'll be amazed what people throw away!)

DisElfchanted3 · 06/12/2009 14:22

Kids have little ikea table and chairs here too.

Only people we could borrow from is my mum and aunt but they are both at home Christmas day and have large dining room so have industrial 8/10 seater monster tables!

Christams was a bit crap last year as DD was born Xmaseve and it kind of got sidetracked.

Something will tun up on ebay Im sure

thres a light house charity furniture shop near us, I'll ask there.

I think i'd rather buy something through loot or ebay though as i really need something that will fit and would feel really about refusing anything they offered me in there as people need the stuff desperatly iykwim!

noooooooo i like it

DaftApeth · 06/12/2009 14:52

Was going to suggest a camping table as they are quite cheap, I think, but like the look of the one you linked on Gumtree.

You could always keep it covered if need be- just check it for woodworm!

At least you won't need to worry about children making a mess on it.

Try Ikea for stackable stools, they have some very cheap ones.

DisElfchanted3 · 06/12/2009 14:53

this is the one we had, we only paid about £80 new but cant remember where from!
