I think one might be a really good idea for dd2 whose 3rd birthday it is in early Jan. I only actually heard of them about half an hour ago from someone on here.
They seem to be sold out everywhere, but costed about a tenner in a lot of places, but nearer £40 in others, why is this? Also, I saw gupi the guinea pig who looks a bit cuter than the hamsters, but I've no idea if it would be any good. Is it the same brand?

i bought one on tesco direct for 9.97 a few days ago

I bought a load of them for my nieces and got one for DD who is a bit young but we thought it would be a giggle. Gave it to her and she loved it (22 months) but two days in the wheels have stopped working. Packaging torn to shreds and so nothing I can do about it. Hope the others are more reliable.
