Do you feel you need to try hard to look wonderful on Christmas day at home with dh and the dc and glam up even if you will just be lounging around and cooking for the most part of the day? - or do you just lol about in pjs/dressing gown? I think it's really nice to be relaxed and chill out in jeans and jumper but when I do I feel I could have made more of an effort to make it a bit more special, and when I glam up I wish I had been more comfy!

Leggingy stuff and sloppy jumper here.
That said, dd aged 6 pointed out that she has never seen me in either a skirt or a frock, so was contemplating getting myself a Boden jobby to surprise everyone.

Somewhere in the middle for me. A fancy top usually but with jeans or black trousers.

Though this year I thought I might wear a dress.

I used to do pressies in jammies then get dressed up for lunch and then have to change into leggings/jumper or back into jammies when I had eaten so much that posh clothes were hurting

Pressies in jammies, decent outfit for church and lunch. Not ott, but maybe new top and trousers that then becomes my weekend outfit.

Having said that, last year I wore a ball gown for dinner for a laugh. Friend of mine regularly dresses as a fairy to delight her kids.

A good compromise is a cosy knitted or jersey dress with tights , easy to just throw on and you can glam it up a bit later with heels makeup and jewellerey

TrinityRhino · 03/12/2009 12:19

just remembered this year
I've bought a mother christmas/mrs santa outfit for laughs

ooh loving the long red knitted dress rubyruby and I usually hate boden.

ha trinty you just reminded me of a post on freecycle - a woman offering a sexy santa outfit with the line 'lord knows why my husband thought this would be a wonderful gift for a 58 year old woman'

I have got a long-sleeved red t-shirt with a sequin christmas tree on it that I love to wear on christmas day .
This year I will be wearing my Isabella Oliver bright pink wrap maternity dress (second pregnancy, need to get some more wear out of it!)
