iPod shuffles - older one - where????

bratnav · 02/12/2009 14:57

My 2 youngest DDs want iPod shuffles for Christmas, no problem we thought as we bought one for DD1 a couple of months back from Apple for £25, now everyone is selling them on ebay for more than the cost of the new version
We want the older version as it is so much easier for them to push buttons than shake them to control them.

Does anyone know where we can buy them please?

Have you tried the apple store ? Or looked for a reconditioned one on ebay ?
I got my sons two months ago on ebay and paid £25 brand new which i thought was ok ?

ShinyAndNew · 02/12/2009 20:09

I have a blue one you can have ff. But I have no charger, or synch lead, as I broke it and lovely DH won me a Nano, so I never bothered replacing it.

I was going to get dd1 a refurbed one, but apple have none atm so she is getting this instead in oink, natrually.

bratnav · 02/12/2009 21:29

Yes Lily, that's where we got DD1s from a couple of months back (Apple Store) but there are none

All the 2nd gen ipods on ebay are going for over £40, new or 2nd hand and we really only have a budget of £25 each for them.

Shiney, really? That would be amazing, we have both the charger and leads from DD1s, so we wouldn't need them as well, I would prefer to give you some money for it.

No, you can have it. My email is micci underscore s underscore at hotmail dot co dot uk.

If you email me your address I'll pop it in the post, but due to the fact that I have no lead, I cannot remove my music, so you must promise not to post about my poor taste in music

All it is doing right now is sitting in a drawer. It would be better put to some use.

hohoholepew · 02/12/2009 21:36

Argos still sell the old version.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 02/12/2009 21:43

Think they up the prices at this time of year !

nappyzonecantrunfortoffee · 02/12/2009 21:47

My dh got me one from argos about 3 weeks ago.

bratnav · 02/12/2009 21:47

Shiney, thank you so much, if you don't want anything for it I will donate the cash to your choice of charity. Emailing you as soon as I have stopped expressing.

hohoho, all out of stock though

OP posts:
bratnav · 02/12/2009 21:48

Will pop into our local one to see then, thanks.

Nowhere has them. Beleive me I've tried (anyone who can prove me wrong please do) Ds has his heart set on a blue one. hoho's link shows them to be out of stock in Argos as they are everywhere.

Why the hell they had to change something to a version nowhere near as good for young children is beyond me.

You can't even get a little speaker dock that is compatable with the new ones. It is so annoyoing, ds is only 5 and it is all he wants for Christmas (dd had a pink one and a little accessory set last year)

ShinyAndNew · 02/12/2009 21:51

This is my favoured charity. But you really don't have to donate anything. Seriously, it is sat in a drawer doing nothing, but was once upon a time well loved.

I decided not to replace all the leads/headphones because by the time you have done that you may aswell have bought a new one.

islandofsodor · 02/12/2009 21:53

The controls on the new ones are on the earphones. Man in shop said they changed them becasue Apple reckoned that mpost poeple who bought a shuffle bought it for the gym so wanted it as small as possible. I beg to differ, I know loads of people who have bought shuffes for young childrne due tothe price and ease of use.

bratnav · 02/12/2009 22:18

Absolutely island, I agree. All DDs little friends have them, brilliant neat little gadgets with big easy controls

Would it be worth us starting a thread on MN to see if anyone else has one they are willing to sell? I know that DD2 and DSD wont care less that it isn't wrapped in a proper box, we will tell them that we unwrapped it to charge it and add music for them.

I'm sure Morrisons sell them for £20-something. If I have time to go in my local one tomorrow, i'll check.

bratnav · 03/12/2009 08:46

Thanks Bexie

Morrisons had them about 5-6 weeks ago. None of our local ones have any left now. £45 for the new one, everywhere.

ShinyAndNew · 03/12/2009 10:17

Morrisons don't have them online any more. I've just checked. Asda have the new one left in Silver, but no other colours, for £40. We have just ordered dd1 it, before that sells out too. They had all the clolurs last night, so they are selling quickly. Luckily dd1 had only requested that she did NOT want black or blue. She should be happy with Silver, but I think she would have liked pink better.

I'll post mine out to you, after school. I'll have a look for the box, I am sure I didn't throw it out, but we have moved house since I bought it, so it could be anywhere.

BexieID · 03/12/2009 20:19

Didn't make Morrisons today but will go in after i've dropped Tom off at nursery so I can treat myself to one of their yummy looking baguettes for lunch, lol.

BexieID · 06/12/2009 23:39

Bit slow to replay, sorry, but Morrsions didn't have any of the old style ones left.

nickschick · 06/12/2009 23:45

I think game sell them used ....although if you try to sell one to them they only give you £8 they sell them for about £25 i think ....so youd have to loiter outside with £15 ready to offer

spicemonster · 06/12/2009 23:51

If you need another one I think I have one kicking around somewhere - I should have all the cables (and I think I even have the box it came in too). CAT me if you do - very happy to send it

bratnav · 07/12/2009 10:27

Oooh, yes please spicemonster, what colour?

OP posts:
spicemonster · 07/12/2009 11:04

It's white I think. Or possibly silver. More likely silver. Definitely not pink though!
