My dd has come home from school today with a letter saying she's been cast as a 'star' in the nativity play and can I provide a star outfit by monday!!!

Any ideas? Easy ones for someone whose sewing skills are confined to buttons!

Matalan have star costumes.

My dd is also a star on monday - although, I assume to make it easier they have said just to wear clothes with stars on. However, it would have been easier to go to matalan and buy a costume

I saw them in Asda Home a few weeks ago. Tried one on DD in fact, she was not impressed!

heartofgold · 01/12/2009 20:18

has she got anything white/silver? i'd just cover enormous cardboard stars in tinfoil and have her wear them sandwich board stylee.

DS1 was a star once, he dressed in gold/yellow and made a headband out of card and painted it gold/yellow and stuck a star on the front of it.

Asda have them for £5. They are v good. DD has one. Think Tesco and Sainsbos do them also.

arolf · 01/12/2009 20:19

sainsburies has them too

JingleAllTheWay · 01/12/2009 20:19

I've seen one, I think it was in Sainsburys or possibly Asda - maybe phone around before setting off.

Having said that when my DD was the Christmas star, she wore a white tutu, white tights and a sort of silver, star head dress tiara thingy from Claires accessories. That was at age 4. It was so cuuuuuuute

Girlies - you are wonderful!

Thank you.

Oh I'm too late. Someone on here recommended Asda for me when I was having the exact same meltdown a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to pass on the favour to you!

yorksmum01 · 01/12/2009 20:44

MMT - thank you!

I've only been active on this site a couple of times but when I have it's made me feel like Snow White with a lot of little cuddly helpers swarming around me trying to help!

It's very, very, helpful and comforting.

I got one off Ebay a week or so ago, the seller had a few of them I think. I had same as Wheelybug, request for clothes with stars on them, I figured it was easier to just buy a star costume.

heartofgold · 01/12/2009 21:13

am rofling muchly at your impression of mn yorksmum, i've never heard us described like that before

yorksmum01 · 01/12/2009 21:23

"Just whistle while you work - tra la la la la la la" IT'S TRUE! I do feel like that.

Maybe my description is a bit too icky. Perhaps it should be more ..... I don't know, can't think of anything else!

Charlie's Angels, The A-Team, Ghostbusters, Wonderpets !???!

Anyhow... you are like guardian angels coming to the rescue to reassure me in my times of need!

And I'm not usually sentimental, I'm actually a hard faced 'owd witch'!
