I have fond memories of my Grandad organising "how green you are"

I thimble was hidden in the living room while one person was out of the room. Then they had to find it while everyone else sang "how green you are" (think that was all the words, just repeated and not really a tune as such ) The singing got louder the closer the seeker got to the thimble.

As kids we loved it and looking back now it had the huge advantage of being a way to keep kids entertained while the adults sat with their drinks.

drawing game? 2 teams, pref in separate rooms with organiser in hall in between

you have a list of things to draw, can be as easy or complicated as you like. you give first item on list to player from each team who has to draw it for their team, as soon as guessed next drawer tells you what it is, and gets next item to draw.

first team to finish wins

can start one team from top of list and one from bottom so not both drawing same thing at same time

For teens and pre teens, I might consider shutting them in another room with food and Wii or DVD, even if it meant the adults were confined to the kitchen

No idea about the balloon

newspaper game

everyone has one sheet of newspaper - you say what they have to rip it into the shape of - then turn the lights out

vote for most like the named thing / funniest execution etc

very easy, and only creates a bit of recycling

FreeGeorgeJackson · 29/11/2009 20:31

Headbandz- we have this game good for all ages, littlies can play.(band on head with object picture you have to guess what you are yes/no questions.

If yu haven't got the game you can make it upyourself wth post it notes on foreheads.

We alos have Pictureka -which is good for all ages-cause much hilarity with grandparents and kids screaming PICTUREKA when they find the picture.

Cna't do links.

ShutUpandDrinkYourGin · 30/11/2009 20:55

consequences is good - can be done with pictures

also that one where you have a post-it on your head and have to guess who you are

we also play 'are you there moriarty' which is hilarious but probably the weirdest game ever invented - so funny watching aged Ps bashing each other with rolled up newspaper
