I have the playmboil and lego advent calenders as a big suprise this year, I havent taken them out of the box - do these need construsting before Tuesday? I know lots of you have these calenders.

I really dont want to be constructing at 7am whilst trying to get ready to leave the house!

thanks

No - they just have bits behind the windows

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 29/11/2009 08:23

The playmobil does, about 20mins/halh hour, the Lego one doesn't.

JingleAllTheWay · 29/11/2009 09:10

sorry, maybe it was a lego one we had then - that just had bits

OracleInaCoracle · 29/11/2009 09:11

wyken, what do yu have to do? ds has a playmobil one this year and i thought the figures were behind the windows!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 29/11/2009 10:05

You have to build the boxes and put the pieces in them and the hang the boxes behind the doors on the main bit. There's also a scene you put the pieces on as you get them out. That was for the feeding animals one. The Lego one you just open the front flap.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 29/11/2009 10:07

You have to (Playmobil) press out all the boxes and fold them up, look up what goes in each box and put it in (some of them need a little assembly (i.e. slotting a couple of pieces together)), and hang the boxes on the numbered slots. About half an hour, probably.

thank you, thats my job for tonight then!

EldonAve · 29/11/2009 16:21

just seen this
I suppose I better prepare then!

BlauerEngel · 29/11/2009 17:46

We've had Playmobil calendars for the last few years and I think 30 mins is wildly optimistic. I might be outing myself as technically incompetent here, but I generally need an hour per calendar (we have two), peering at the instructions and trying to work out which little piece of crap fits where. It's a real IKEA experience. DD1 has offered to help me put together DD2's calendar this year, might take her up on that.

wideratthehips · 29/11/2009 17:54

yikes, two playmobils to do here too, best do it tonight!

lissielouskissingsantaclaus · 29/11/2009 21:11

did it in 30-45 mins, once i figured out how to construct the box it was fairly easy!

MrsJohnDeere · 29/11/2009 21:29

Playmobil one much easier and quicker than last year's. Took about 15 mins (Santa scene one). Last year's (Knights) took about 2 hours, but I was a Playmobil virgin then.

IdrisTheDragon · 29/11/2009 21:30

I did the playmobil ones we have yesterday - the new one for DD bemused me a bit as you had to construct a criss cross pattern of card to make the box part but DS (6) helped me and then was very useful in finding the right pieces.

NB The Unicorn and Fairy one has A Lot of flowers.

I also did a used one which was easier - just had to make the boxes and put in the pieces and put the boxes onto the hanging calendar.

DS's Lego one needed no construction

stealthsquiggle · 29/11/2009 21:33

You definitely need child-free time to assemble Playmobil one unless they have completely changed tack this year - otherwise there will be no surprises.

lissielouskissingsantaclaus · 29/11/2009 22:17

im really impressed with it! ds will absolutely love it.

drlovesmincepies · 30/11/2009 00:34

playmobile calenders , where do you get them?

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 30/11/2009 00:48

Local toyshop for us.

EldonAve · 30/11/2009 06:53

got mine in John Lewis

MrsJohnDeere · 30/11/2009 09:36

Some garden centres have them too (ones that focus on tat and knick knacks rather than plants).

rookiemater · 30/11/2009 21:45

Lego one takes about 10 minutes to construct per window ( know this as DH let DS open them all up last week) don't lose the pictures though or get them mixed up as impossible to do once this happens.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 01/12/2009 00:15

The police Playmobil is a lot less fiddly than the knights Playmobil (once you give in and use sellotape to hold the folded background together).

lissielouskissingsantaclaus · 01/12/2009 08:35

ds loves it. of course now he wants to open another window... but the calender is a big hit!
