Is 5 years old too young for a skateboard?

Ds has requested one. Are there any good beginners skateboards with this age group in mind?

Obviously if we do get him a skateboard for Christmas he won't be using it with the big boys and girls in the stunt areas, just using it to trundle down the path in the park - under adult supervision...

you can get a beginner skateboard that has a handle so looks a bit like a scooter. the handle folds down when they want rid of it.

hope so. My DCs have requested one for Sinterklaas feest (dutch "christmas" - 5th December) and although youngest is only 5 years old, we are fairly certain that Sinterklaas will be indulging them!

We just googled children's skateboards and ended up buying two from the Skate Hut - they have categories according to age and ability.
