I thought I might order a free range turkey for Christmas but have had a horrible shock when I looked at the price....£10 per kilo...just work that one out even for a 3-4 kilo one. We've spent the last 5 years abroad in a turkey free zone and had to do with a frozen butterball turkey, it was delicious, cost about 12 euros. I think I might be checking out the freezer sections tomorrow!

their a rip off. Actually considered raising my own for crimbo this year (already keep chickens). May well do next year.

a dead turkey is not happy - its a bit silly to think he/she is

get a smaller one. just think, really, with all the trimmings you don't need so much meat, it only gets thrown away or used up in other dishes for a few days afterwards

thisisyesterday - problem is they don't come much smaller than 3-4 kilos and to be honest I actually want some left over....and no I don't want a half bird or crown (or whatever they are called), I want a whole bird or nothing.
