I've bought a wii with sports resort for Christmas. Comes with a remote with motion control and the sports games. Is it essential that i get anything else or can it be played with more than one person with 1 remote - by sharing it?

Am loathe to spend any more money than I have to, and would rather build it up with extra's a bit at a time.

Most of the games in Wii Sports (not sure about Wii Sports Resort) you take turns with (like bowling) - that's fine for beginning. But for non-turn-based games (like boxing) if you want 2 players you will need another remote.

Wii Play is worth getting - quite a few fun mini games and an extra remote.

does it need to be another motion controller remote or just the normal remote?

The motion controller thing clips onto a normal remote.

Sorry I may have worded that badly - Wii Play comes with an extra remote (but not a nunchuck or extra motion controller thing)

do you always need the motion controller on a remote or does it still work without?

the remote works without the motion controller on it. the motion controller is the new bit that sticks onto the end of a remote and makes it more responsive

Yep what Lindax said. Basically the remote is the most basic thing you need, you can add a nunchuck for certain games which clips into the remote and allows you to do things 2-handed, like boxing. The nunchuck is not required for all games so you have to buy it separately. Then the motion controller is a new add-on they have made which clips onto your main controller (I assume so you don't have to buy all new ones if you already had 4 controllers) and makes it extra sensitive (I think) - again this is not required for all games. I think it is required for some of the new games though.

You can also get Wii Fit (save that for later I think) which comes with a balance board, you can also use this as an extra control thing in some games like a Mario snowboarding thing.

HTH - I have probably just confused you more though, sorry!
