I found this while searching for something completely different earlier. (Click on small pages and scroll down for bigger ones.)

Brings back so many memories for me, even though I was only 2 in 1979 - it all looks so familiar.

My particular favourites are:

Fisherprice play desk

Speak and spell

Major morgan

Come and join me in my nostalgia.....

That portable record player! I used to put my tape recorder next to it to record LP's... can't be sure if it was that particular year or years to come but I remember taping Blondie's Parallel Lines that way!

I love retro toys

That catalogue is brilliant! My sister and I had quite a few of those and the ones we didn't, our friends owned. Thanks kimlouiseb

Ninks · 20/11/2009 11:10

The activity centre was £9.58 in seventies money

All the prices end in weird units. I wonder if it was to do with the changeover. Refreshing to see not everything ending in 0.49 or 0.99 though.

notagrannyyet · 20/11/2009 15:45

I had my first 3 DC in the 1980s. I've still got the toys you mention in the loft and many more......wonder if they're worth anything!

kimlouiseb · 20/11/2009 16:12

I'm sure they would be, there's lots of vintage toys selling well on ebay.

ooh, those fisherprice television sets with the lenticular pictures!
we had one that played raindrops keep falling on my head!
brilliant

nickelbabe · 20/11/2009 17:24

tree house!

i've still got mine somewhere!!

heymammy · 20/11/2009 17:28

Awww, I had the Palitoy Treehouse and it was nearly a tenner in 1979

I also had one of the Mario Bros handheld games a few years later and it was £17.95...I am shocked my parents afforded it tbh

Marne · 20/11/2009 20:04

nickelbabe- the tree house is worth money on e-bay. I have sold a few vintage toys on e-bay, i love the vintage fisher price toys.

I was a child in the 80's and i had Keypers, rainbow bright, my little pony, popples and wozzles .

My favorite toy for x-mas was the red chimney pot with soot family, i think i was 4 or 5 when i got it and i can still remember how excited i was when i opened it.

kimlouiseb · 20/11/2009 20:18

I had a cabbage patch doll that I loved. I nearly wet myself when I saw it on Christmas day! Looking at them now, they are revolting!

I used to love care bears, cabbage patch dols, strawberry shortcake, my speak and spell was my fav toy though! I took DD to the Museum of Childhood yesterday they have all the old toys in there. brought back memories (and made me feel quite old!)

Wigglesworth · 20/11/2009 20:30

I was an 80's child and I too had rainbow bright and her horse. My little pony dream castle and lullaby nursery were my favorite x-mas presents. I can still remember getting a blood blister on my finger from the scissor handle trying to cut the My Little Pony free from it's packaging in a frenzy of festive glee.
I also got a She-Ra fancy dress costume when I was 6 which I thought was the absolute dogs bollocks.
I asked for a Mr Frosty every year for about 5 years and NEVER got one, gutted. I am still scarred.

nickelbabe · 23/11/2009 16:58

ooh Marne, could never sell it!

my mum still ahs the Shuffly castle and Shuffly hospital and Shuffly police station: my nephews and niece have each had them in turn and they're very well received.

shame you can't still get those .

MrsMattie · 23/11/2009 17:01

Things I wanted for Xmas as a child, but never got :

Mr Frosty
Soda Stream
The BIG rainbow brite (my mum got me a tiny little beanie version - not cool!)
A Cindy house with furnitureA glow worm

izzybiz · 23/11/2009 17:05

I never got a Mr Frosty either!

My best ever present was a dream dancer, a ballerina doll that you put one foot in this special stage and she used to dance...........

(I loved her!)

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 23/11/2009 17:59

At age four I desperately wanted a Sasha Doll, some hippo soaps and a Fisher Price camper van.

All of the above were owned by my best friend, Joanne, whose house I played at all the time. My mum pointed out to me years later that I had never asked for any of the above. I think that I truly believed that Santa would read my mind and come up with the goods.
